Walnut Park is a growing community based school. Pros: caring, dedicated teachers and staff; extracurricular activities for students at all grade levels; academics are measured by growth; lots of parental involvement opportunities; lots of access to technology and curriculum resources Cons: the discipline system is unfair (some students seem to be able to do anything they want, others get in trouble for trivial things), lots of standardized testing, many parents don't participate, the extra long school day (7:30-4:30) and long school year (mid August - late June) means that the students get "burnt out", big emphasis on test scores
