Considering a move to St Louis, are there good special ed programs or districts for High School?

Hi Tammy,
I am not sure about the special ed programs because I am currently homeschooling my high schooler. If you are thinking about districts, here are a few: Webster Groves (zip-63119), Kirkwood (63122), Clayton (63105, 63124) ,Lake of St. Louis (63367), and St. Charles (63366). These are really good community, and in good neighborhood. This may help you get a good special school district for your teen. Best Wishes, Ann

Parkway and Rockwood are excellent districts in West St. Louis county

You are much better off in IL if your kid will need and IEP. I would not even bother with Parkway or any of the other big school districts in metro St Louis. They of course will put your kid in with the other kids and have them doing their IEP program in the class room with the other kids watching.

I personally think that you should send your child to a special educational private school because they will offer a better academic environment as well as more attention on your child.
A few special educational private schools include Ursuline Academy (9-12 all girls and Catholic), Whitfield School (6-12 co-ed and non-religious), and Churchill School (PK-8 co-ed and non-religious). I hope you find the perfect school for your son or daughter! Good luck! :)
