My son just completed 7th grade at Waynesville Middle and continually complained that the teachers lacked control in the classroom. I did not feel welcomed by the staff or teachers when I was concerned about academics that he missed by changing districts. The thought seemed to be - he'll get it somewhere. If you are in sports then Waynesville is the place for you. I am hoping to get more involved this year (although my son won't be thrilled) maybe that will help with getting what he needs - a challenging education... not disruptive classrooms.
I am a former student of Waynesville Middle School, and I have to say it's a great school. I will admit that teachers do tend to gossip about students, but administrators usually take care of that problem rather quickly. However, teachers are always availible when you need them, and are never to busy to help. The staff and students of this school take pride in everything they do, including after-school clubs and sports.
I have had children attend this school and it has not been a good experience. Bad language and disrespect from students is tolerated. It appears that some teachers think all kids are bad and don't want to listen. Sometimes there are legitimate reasons for a child to ask questions, but they tend to be dismissed and told to be quiet. I will give praise to the counselor and principal who have been helpful.
I love how diverse it is. I love the number of different electives the kids can take, and that the teachers and staff are really available, both in person and online, to talk to you, update you, and set goals with you and your child.
I'm a former student at this school, I moved just a few weeks ago. This school is, in my opinion, more worried about sports then the actual learning. I was in a classroom that didn't have airconditioning at all, but the school remodels it's old football stadium and then decides to build a new one soon for millions of dollars. I also agree that the school is a tad too strict but, with the types of kids we had there, it's understandable. I don't agree however, that all of the students and administrators, truly care about the students. They are very close-minded and believe that they are right and the students are always wrong. They don't like to take the time and listen and hate to admit that they are wrong. Now, before you get upset, I'm not saying every teacher/administrator is bad. I'm talking about the majority. That's my opinion.
this school is way way to strict they should let the kids be kids
Teaching at WMDS is a rewarding experience. The teacher quality is excellent. Working together, we create an environment for all students. Communication among teachers happens all the time. We work together to do what is best for our students. Our principal, Mr. Grizzell, is the best administor. He is all about the students. He understands the needs of all students and he gives each student an equal opportunity. He provides many opportunities for teachers and staff so we can give education a priority. Our assistant principals are always available for teachers and students. Their doors are always open. Our assistant teachers are awesome. They too, believe in making education a priority. I am proud to be part of WMDS!
i love this school.. i miss it soo much. i just moved.. But this school was good.. the kids were great. and the teachers.. were good.. except for some..
Waynesville Middle is way to strict.I think some teachers now at this school are not here to teach the students. They are here to make their money. A couple teachers only let the students ask some questons. Teachers also send studtens to the office for minor reasons or invalid reasons. The princibles are not to good either. When students get in to trouble some teachers or princibles don't take the time to listen to their part of the story. I do not recommend your children going to this school.
This is in response to the parent that stated they have had problems with teachers at this school communicating. They also stated that the school is not good if you have an ADD child. I teach at WMDS and resent the fact that they said it is not a good school if you have a child with ADD. I teach students with ADD everyday and make accommodations for all my students. You should not group all teachers into your comments because there are teachers that work very well with all students with and without disabilities. Education is definitely a priority with this school system.
