About the Tests

  • In 2009-2010 Hawaii used the Hawaii State Assessment (HSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math.
  • The HSA is a standards-based test that measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Hawaii.
  • The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level on the test.
