About the Tests

  • In 2009-2010 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in English/language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies.
  • The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana.
  • High school students are required to pass the grade 10 ISTEP+ to receive a high school diploma.
  • The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

About the Tests

  • In 2009-2010 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in English/language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies.

  • The different student groups are identified by the Indiana Department of Education. If there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, data is not reported for that group.
  • High school students are required to pass the grade 10 ISTEP+ to receive a high school diploma.
  • The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.
