About the Tests

  • In 2007-2008 Kansas used the Kansas State Assessments (KSA) to test students in grades 3 though 8 and 11 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 11 in science; and in grades 6, 8 and 11 in history-government.
  • The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Kansas.
  • The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

  • The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Kansas.
  • The different student groups are identified by the Kansas State Department of Education. If there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
  • The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
