This school is very friendly except for the current sophmore boys who seem to want to harass everybody who has different opinions. As mentioned in a previous review there are few challenging courses. I find that the courses are very easy and i usually have no homework except for the occasional essay or project. in the area of sports, volleyball is greatly encouraged but i find that this years senior class has become fed up with the coach's tactics. Football is also very emphasized. However the music program is excellent and the amount of students in speech and drama and HP players seems to be increasing, especially the amount of boys.
Not only is this the most excellent school I have visited, it is the safest and most efficent for my child.
Quality of education ranges from excellent to mediocre. The elementary education is generally outstanding through grade 4. The JrHi (7th/8th) has really improved since 2001; math & science strong subjects, and some great teachers. High school has strong math, science, art, & ag/shop programs. Sports for boys is standard and adequate, with wrestling perhaps over-emphasized. The girls have an excellent volleyball and track program. The school's weaknesses include a near-complete lack of advanced study to challenge the gifted student. No child is left behind, but the gifted ones must find their own challenges. Languages, music, literature, etc. are NOT why you come to Huntley Project. Our engineering college student was very well-prepared, and our JrHi 'liberal arts' student is mostly bored. The school provides a rural environment safe from the problems that plague urban campuses but also from some of the benefits.
