Overall, I would give Gerald Otte Middle School a better than average grade. Their academics are very good and challenging. Most teachers seem to care about the progression of the students. The administration is supportive of both students and teachers and the class sizes are managable. The weak link is their Special Education department. Many of the SpEd teachers are not advocates for their children, especially if the disabilities are not readily noticible (ADD, Dsylexia, etc.) and it is a struggle to keep them on task. However, I have found great support at the District level for special needs children.
