Supports LD students: Agree

Mostly, yes. While I do think that there could be better sharing of information across the Gen Ed and SPED lines (and accountability between staff for ALL students), I was usually very pleased with how goals and accommodations were implemented.

Effective school leaders: Neutral

Hillside has had a lot of turnover with Administration over the past several years. The school really deserves to have a strong advocate in place - someone who will really get to know the families and teachers.

Hillside is a wonderful school. The teachers are very experienced and/or have graduate degrees. We had very good experiences here with General Education and Special Needs Teachers. Only occasionally did we get assigned to a teacher who was not up-to-speed on fully accommodating for special needs, mainly due to their lack of experience at Hillside (or in general - brand new teacher).

Handles bullying effectively: Agree

This type of behavior is handled right away.

I have only wonderful things to say about Hillside! This is my 3rd grade son's second year there, and he continues to flourish with the help of the dedicated teachers and support staff. His reading deficiencies were quickly identified and through an intensive reading program, he is at/above grade level reading now. He was very behind when we moved here from Albuquerque. All of his teachers have been incredibly supportive and responsive! The district is very competitive, which is why I think the school has a lower rating. This is a much better school than what the rating reflects.

All of the teachers are very devoted to the students. The kids always come first.
