My family has had children enrolled at the Lake Tahoe School for the last six years, and we couldn't be happier with it. We spent a couple of weeks in Incline during the summer of 2006, and, after visiting LTS on a whim, decided to make the move. My children love going to LTS, they are learning well above grade level, and they are growing up in a safe, nurturing environment.

Lake Tahoe School provides an environment where kids thrive academically, socially and as members of a community. Every teacher is committed to the students and well educated, which inspires a love of learning in a rigorous academic environment. Kids are held accountable as members of their school and larger community (older kids complete service hours), the environment is one of respect for self and others, and every child is known by name by teachers and staff. This is a great school if you are looking for a strong academic program that also offers a broad array of enrichment classes, small class sizes and individualized learning opportunities. I also love that the school addresses the whole child as he/she develops into a citizen of the community; it makes for a positive and nurturing environment for kids to thrive.

Lake Tahoe School is as amazing as all these reviews say. If, however, your child is a unique learner or has a learning disability, they are of little to no help. The school will, in fact, suggest you take your child to another school in this event.

Lake Tahoe School is amazing! My children have attended LTS since pre-k 3. It is one of the few schools that accelerates students in individual subjects. All students are at least one grade level ahead in math, and many are 2 grade levels advanced. The entire school has math at the same time so that students can go into their appropriate level. Reading levels are also differentiated from an early age. Class size is small, the teachers are amazing, and the outdoor educational opportunities ( rock climbing, Yosemite) amazing. This gem of a school could rival any school in the nation!

My child has attended Lake Tahoe School since Pre-K (He is now in 5th grade.) and continues to be a fabulous experience for him. There is a wonderful sense of community in this school. This is evident in the student body, faculty, and the parent body. Respecting others is an underlying theme that radiates out from all. Due to the small student to teacher ratio individual attention is something all students benefit from. There is no getting lost in the cracks or hiding in the back row all students are required to contribute in class. The teachers are outstanding and work as closely with each student, as they do each other, to make sure each student is reaching their potential while in a supportive environment. I believe that is the core of what makes the students, and the school, so successful.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
