My daughter is a very sweet child, with good manners, has been home schooled and is ahead of the grade by one or two years. Not that she is extremely advanced, but rather that the level of teaching in the second grade at Richard H Bryan is incredibly low. To be doing math in the second grade of single digit numbers + 1 is simply ridiculous. And her safety was at risk as she was beat up by two bigger boys, while monitors clearly saw, but NOTHING was reported. And the principal was more concerned about hushing the incident rather than taking the necessary action as school policy dictates, the boys were never suspended nor parents notified. Really bad school. Pricipal quality was zero to say the least.
The teachers and students at this school are incredible. The teachers are attentive and will go out of their way to help your kids learn and thrive. The kids themselves are well behaved kind kids who will hold doors open for you, say excuse me, and actually hurry into their classrooms at the sound of the bell. If you're looking for a good school. This is it.
I have had issues with the assistant principal. There are great teachers and not so good at the school. There are not enough extracurricular activites and if there are they are over priced.
As a parent of three daughters-my first two went through RHB and one entered The Meadows and the other Palo Verde with the youngest now in the three grade. The school is outstanding and is very friendly and welcomes parents everyday. As an African American and educator at UNLV, every child in Summerlin should have the opportunity to experience the diversity that school brings and the accredication it has earned over the years..not to mention that Senator Bryan makes it a point to visit the school reguarly. I would like to say my son is attending extended kindergarten all day program at this school. His teacher is one of the best & he has really progressed in this school. The staff are wonderful & his teachers the best. He does great & I would recommend this school to everyone. Everyone is just wonderful to the students. I say five stars all the way.
I really have enjoyed all the teachers threw out the years. My son is now 8 and will attend this year as well.followed by his younger brother in another year I would'nt want my kids any where else. Joan McManus ran a super school with her firm but yet sensitive way. My son Tra` admired her a great deal and we will miss her. five stars
This school employs a highly educated and collaborative staff that works for the benefits of all students. I am extremely impressed with the accountability that is held not only for staff, but students as well. For years I kept my children in private education. Now, I truly feel safe to let my daughter attend this school. It is a wonderful and high achieving school where students feel welcome.
Since it's opening nearly 8 years ago,RHB has been place that I felt confident that my children were receiving a quality education. Until the change of leadership in 2002, and the subsequent mass exodus of educators and other staff members may lead one to question the current Administration. While still maintaining confidence in the overall education pool, this may be an opportunity for a positive-thinking-parent-supportive administator to step up and rescue 'our' school.
My daughter is in Mrs. Schiemer's first grade class and loves it. The teacher is great, likes parental involvement and teaches the children on their level.
Richard Bryan is a quality school. Principal Joan McManus and her faculty are dedicated and work very hard to stimulate young minds...a great place for kids.
