Fantastic school! I moved my child from a small faith based school to LVDS and couldn t be happier. Their focus is on academics versus religion. They are also big enough to have specialists to teach Spanish, music, art, PE and computer as well have numerous after school sports and clubs. It is more expensive but well worth it.

I have been very pleased with the education my children have received at Las Vegas Day School. They have been there since Preschool and one is currently in fifth grade and one in eighth grade. Well rounded curriculum and challenging education but my children love to come to school every day. They are good students but they have to work for their grades. Just difficult enough but not too much that they are frustrated. You won t be disappointed.

Great school overall. Our two boys attend (ages 5 and 7). The administration is involved and active, there are numerous school activities and the academics are first rate.

I toured and subsequently enrolled my child in Las Vegas Day School. The environment is warm, caring and compassionate starting with the Admissions Director to the teachers, aides and administration. As the school year went on and different issues naturally occurred all of my initial feelings were confirmed in a positive manner. Concerns or questions are answered promptly and the school is extremely fair with disciplinary and academic expectations despite being a very challenging program. Parents looking at private schools should tour those schools to really know what they are all about. At LVDS what you see and feel is what you get.

Make sure the teachers are certified. We found out the hard way When our daughter went to high school. She had to take health and a computer class over again because the LVDS teacher had no certification in those subjects. Coach Lair was one for Health. Ok for Gorman but not the ccsd. You would think with all the money we spent there and all the teachers layed off that LVDS could of solved this issue.

LVDS is a wonderful and solid educational program from preschool thru 8th grade. It has produced successful high school and college bound students for 50 years in the Las Vegas community and no ther private school in the area can make that claim. The activities and clubs accomadate all interests of the student body, especially in middle school. If you decide to send your children there, be aware of the cut-throat parents who will stop at nothing to get an edge whether it is to volunteer in a classroom or get their children ahead in the academics. Sadly, some parents in recent years have made it difficult for the others who play be the rules. Also, because of this style of parenting, the children also have become little princes and divas thinking everything should go their way and lack moral values. The administration is wonderful and have a challange keeping up with the overindulged students and their parents. If you can navigate the social issues, your child will do fine at LVDS. Some classes are more tolerable than others and pay attention to whom you have something in common with and stick with them to survive. Teachers may be more biased than others, but that is everywhere.

A cold and terrible school in which my child regressed overall. Little parental involvement allowed, onerous homework assignments and a tolerance for bullying and harassment justify an unsatisfactory rating.

LAS VEGAS DAY SCHOOL is a horrible school, i go there and i started to fall behind 2 years ago. the school did nothing about it. Upuntil my dad told them that i was leaving to go to another school. All of a sudden they want to help me, like set me up a tutor and a talk to me, but they knew i was having trouble before that. The people who run the school (Daslers) are greedy and they care about them selves and just want there money!!!

I am unhappy with Day School. I couldn't believe how, in 1st grade, there is practically no parental participation allowed. The teachers are not nurturers at all. It's a wry cold school. We will be switching out at the end of the year.

Above average academics. Does not attend to the whole child. A lot of homework and busy work. Not a teaching model of education - mostly self directed learning. No parent involvement. Not a fit for "out of the box" thinking.

It's been consistently good education for my son, and they don't nurture or coddle, they teach. Going to be sending my daughter here next school year.

At the end of the first grade my 1st grade son was tested and performing 5th grade math and reading. You need to be involved with your children since there is a lot of homework - but it is worth the investment.

I have two children at Las Vegas Day School and they absolutely love it! LVDS offers a challenging curriculum but the teachers are so fantastic at teaching your children that it does not seem like work. Both of my children love coming to school everyday and love all the after school programs available to them(tennis, art club, choir, chess, band, cheerleading, computer club, dance, drama and more). There is also plenty of parent involvement opportunitys with music programs, field trips, art projects and more. A very well rounded school for all. I would defintely recommend this school to anyone!

I am a previous parent and am currently employed at the school. I love this school. My children got the best education possible. They have gon on to excel in High School and College and in their careers. I joined the staff because I felt that this is the best place to send a child. The staff truly care about each and every child, and the administration does everything they can to ensure a great educational experience for the children!

My children have been here for their entire school careers. They have been challenged and nurtured and supported the entire time! The students at LVDS take genuine pride in who they are and how they present themselves. The families of students here are behind education and community service 100%. Everyone that I have been in contact with from custodians, to teachers, to the top of administration has been courteous, respectful, and exuded a genuine joy of being part of the LVDS team. Our family couldn't be happier and our money couldn't be better spent!

My children have experienced nothing but success at LVDS. They have high quality teachers and offer everything from music to art to Physical Education every day! My children are levels above other children in their same grades that attend public school. I wouldn't want them anywhere else!

I started at the Las Vegas Day School (LVDS) four years ago as an instructional aide. Then I was promoted to Lead Teacher. I've been in the teaching industry for 7 years. Of all the school that I worked for, LVDS is simply the best! Not only does the Director support our individual classroom styles; he also provides ample supplies to help make our school shine. We provide many enriching activities for our students to make learning fun. Also, I m a parent of a gifted 6th grader. My son has been invited by John Hopkins University to participate in their gifted program . I know if my son was not at LVDS, he would not have been included in this program. Thank you LVDS for providing a productive work environment and a safe and challenging environment for my son.

Wonderful school for academically motivated students - I have three children there and could not be happier. I don't know how they get such exceptional teachers, but every one we have had has been outstanding - a true professional dedicated to their craft. This school is not for you if: 1. your child does not thrive on academic challenge 2. your child needs extensive individual attention or 3. you need a lot of parental involvement in the school - it is designed so that parents have minimal classroom involvement. It is a for-profit school run by an individual and his brothers, started by his parents 50+ years ago. We believe that they have found the formula for academic achievement in the crazy world of Las Vegas - visit the school and you will see hundreds of smiling kids on the playground, delighting in their safe, challenging environment.

I think LVDS is absolutely amazing! My daughter has been at the school now for 3 and a half years. My mom has been teaching for over 20 years and she can not beleive the advanced work my daughter is acheiving! The projects and crafts are so creative that they make learning so much fun. The staff is extrememly attentive and encouraging, my daughter loves school. If anyone has a problem with this school or staff, they need to look toward themselves or their children, not the school.

At Las Vegas Day School, an 'attitude problem' means that a student or parent refuses to be bullied by the director. If the school has zero tolerance for bullying or inappropriate language, one wonders why the administration feels that it can insult and degrade children and their families. We moved our children to another private school and they are flourishing.

Awesome school! Academically challenging and outstanding. Fantastic sports program - great music program - huge library - large computer room- great science program - very strong arts -endless after school activities and clubs - large campus with swimmingpool, sportsfield, tenniscourts. Great leadership. Wish they had a high school! My daughter has spent seven great years there - one more to go - and has loved every day. The school is strict with dress code (nice uniforms though- slacks/shorts/skorts and poloshirts), but there are many 'free-dress' opportunities. Zero tolerance for bullying, foul language, poor sportsmanship and general misconduct. If your child has attitude problems or is academically slow, this might not be the best school for you. Personally, we could not have wished for a better school for our daughter and LVDS has given her the best possible foundation for her further education.

If your child enjoys spending hours silently doing worksheets, then this is the school for you. Creativity and fun are not important for five year olds in this school.

After trying several schools in the Las Vegas area, we have found Day School to be the most balanced curriculum for a private school in the Las Vegas valley.
