Hayes is an example of how public education should function. The teachers encourage the students, (most) parents are supportive, and the students enjoy going there. Mr. Ligon, the Principal, cares about the students and is directly involved with them.

I was a student there a couple of years ago I loved. All the teachers are nice and care if you're learning or not. The office staff is nice and do a lot of things for the school they really care. Unlike the other school I used to go to.

We just started attending this school after moving here from another state. The front office staff is dismissive and rude, and the principal is never around. The teachers seem to care but are hampered by overcrowded classrooms and curriculims that are focused too much on passing state test and not teaching the kids. It's a common theme here in Las Vegas schools and is very dissappointing.

My son has attended Hayes for the past two school years and I have been completely satisfied with his education and involvement of the teachers and their skill level.

I've had a child in Hayes since the year it opened. My 2nd child is in 2nd grade now. I love the school. A lot of the teachers have been there awhile, so you know them and they acknowledge you in the hallway. All of the doors past the office are locked, so nobody could get in without signing in at the office. In the last 8 years that my children have been at Hayes, I've had no issues. My 2nd grader now is behind in reading, and they quickly enrolled him in a special reading program to help him out. My only wish is that it will convert to a 9 month school. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed on that one. Gina
