This school provides great opportunities for its students. I think it a great school because the students can work at their own pace and can study the way they want to.

K-8 program is terrific. Everything the school advertised. High school is a dud compared to K-8. It is just like any other high school in the school district. My daughter is in 10th grade but they gave her Eng III by mistake. They were going to send her to PE at a park more than 10 miles away when the PE class she went to last year is just 3 miles from home and in the same Zip code as our home. It took them a semester to realize she was in the wrong English class. The counselor says she was zoned for the farther PE class and that they always put you in the nearest class to your Zip code. To top it all off, my kid has a 504 plan that they 'misplaced' for the last three to five years!

This school is truely amazing. My child had so many problems at her previous school that I was worried for her safety at times. Now that she attends Odyssey Middle School, I always know she is taken care of.

Traditional middle school was not for us with the mixed level class we were put into and the unlevel grounds we were supposed to roll our wheelchair around in. Odyssey is, again, a God sent. Great teachers, great cirriculum that builds not just from my sons lowest areas but raises the bar on the areas he is good at. We have needs that range from 1st through 9th grade levels all packed into a 6th graders body. Odyssey meets all of our education needs with a smile. Highly recommended to those who can make the time to get their kids out of schools that do not fit.

A bit late but I feel it needs to be said. I posted a review three years ago and gave the school an excellent review. Two years ago they started a different routine in preparing eighth graders for high school. While I agree it needed to be done, I was thoroughly disappointed with the way things were handled. The previous year, parents were told if they had a child in high school, eighth graders would attend school the same day. I was shocked when school started and was told my kids would be going on different days. As it turned out, my child got lost in the shuffle and did terrible that year. She is in high school now but playing catch up again. My ratings are based on what I have written above.

The Odyssey model should be the standard for ALL new schools. We've changed the way we work, we should change the way our children work. Odyssey does this using the distance learning to train for future telecommuters. It also teaches the team approach which is prevalent in the workplace today. The one downside I have found is that it seems some of the teachers either have unrealistic expectations or Zero involvement, there is no middle ground. However the only reason we moved to Las Vegas and the only thing that keeps us here is Odyssey Charter school.

I am currently a 7th grade student of Odyssey, and I gotta say, it is the Best! your parents are your teacher teachers. I love this program and I highly reccommend it, they have tutors and specialty teachers as well.

We attended the school for kindergarten and first grade. My child's teachers were wonderful. They helped her to excel academically. The teachers were able to pinpoint her weaknesses and helped me and her to make them become strengths. The extracurricular activities are great. It brings kids around the same age. If you are thinking about homeschooling, this could be a great alternative for you.

My Son started attending OCS in 1999 when they first opened and it was a fantastic school and excellent way to learn more hands on. I praise this school and the opportunity it gives my son to advance further than our expectations. The only downfall is not enough time for teacher/student relations, which should be included. But I would rather my child attend this school than any other.
