My grandson has been at Sheila Tarr since K, now in 2nd grade. He is doing marvelously well. The teachers are among the best in Las Vegas and the staff across the board is great. Thank you all for helping one little boy be the best and brightest he can be!
Mr. Bishop and Mr. H. The best leaders that I've seen in a long time. They both truely care, their is no drama it's a very family friendly school. Coming from Conners it's a breathe of fresh air. I just wish we would of never had to go to Conners . Our children are so happy at Tarr. Thank you Shiela Tarr
Best school in Las vegas !!! I have two children that go to Tarr. My son has autism and is in Ms. Kellies class she is a outstanding autism teacher . I feel my chidren are very safe and loved at this school. The staff are very kind and understanding . It is the best feeling when you know that your children are getting the best education and that the teachers really do care about the kids. Thank you , All Tarr ES Teachers !!!
Very good school!! Very good school for Kindergarten. They work very well with them to have fun and learn at the same time. My daughter had Mrs. Borgos but the other teacher is just as good. They are both very much involved with the children and the school also has many outing for the kids and parents to connect. This school is unlike any other elementary I have seen especially with Vegas having really bad schools. Im glad I was able to put my child in this school because someone I knew lived in the area. I have since moved so that she can continue to go there.
Sheila Tarr ES has been a great school for my daughter. When she entered second grade she was testing as a first grade beginner reading level. Thanks to their Lexia Lab reading program and she is exactly where she is supposed to be. They worked very closely with her as well as very close with my husband and I to help her in the most effective way. The school keeps parents highly involved with their children's learning and has an amazing friendly staff of teachers and personnel.
I have two children who attend this school. They attended a different school prior to this one and I have to say that the other school was better in several ways. I think that the teachers are nice, but the school does not have a lot going on in the way of extracurricular opportunities or clubs. The other school was also more challenging academically. I have only had one brush with the principal and I found him to be unrealistic in his expectations of behavior. I get the feeling that the school is a bit too rigid.
Sheila R. Tarr is a wonderful school my kids love it!. The principal and the staff is great, I'm lucky I found this school for my kids.
We moved to Nevada from California. and were very disappointed in our son's first school. After looking around at other schools we were VERY impressed with Tarr. Not only are the teachers wonderful but the staff is great! The principal is one in a million. Our son is in Kinder and we were worried about him transitioning smoothly. His teacher's methods not only made him comfortable in his new surroundings but he is excited to go every day now! His academic abilities have jumped off the charts! He's stimulated, challenged and most of all happy. His word recognition, math abilities and motor skills have improved dramatically in the first month! We couldn't be happier and it's nice to know there are great schools still out there for our children!! We are only at the kinder level and we can't wait to see what's in store next year! Sheila Tarr is #1
My daughter had to change schools this year and her 3rd grade teacher has helped her adjust to this transition so quickly and in such a positive manner. Academically she has improved significantly in every one of her subjects. Her teacher worked one on one with her and boosted her confidence as a reader and as a student. She loves reading and is doing so well now. She comes home from school and conquers her homework like a champion. She has learned how to multiply from 0- 12 in a matter of months. I feel Tarr is a fantastic school and any child would benefit from attending school here! Unfortunately, Tarr was one of the schools that was re-zoned for the 2004-2005 school year and my daughter will have to make yet another transition to another school, new student and new teachers. I hope we find another great school for her!
