Lois & Jerry Tarkanian Middle School

This school is a joke. Some of the teachers there are alright, but some others really shouldn't be even teaching. They don't offer anything extra after school besides dance, cheerleading, and basketball. We can't wait to get our 4.0 student out of this school!

This is the worst school I've ever seen! They allow kids to be bullied. Teachers Pick and choose the students they send to the dean for dress code violations. This place should be shut down. Children should not be put in the situations!

The school has every right to search any students locker / back pack / purse / sachel if they believe that the student has anything in her / his possession that is illegal / immoral / poronographic or NOT in the interests of school (drawings that the student wastes class time looking at over and over. Students should NOT bring items to school that don't fit into the learning process...i.e. games / toys / photographs. Although cell phones are allowed many students do texting when the teacher isn't looking...so the student is NOT learning. This School is fantastic.

I am a 6th grader at Tarkanian Middle School. The teachers are great and always help the students. There are so many extra activities at this school. I have been to three schools in my life, and this is my overall favorite. Five stars!

I absolutely loathe this school. I had a child with a learning impairment go through this school and I believe that the overall experience has caused him to form a very negative attitude towards the entire school system. He was having trouble in several classes getting his grades up and parent teacher meetings were held. Even though we had meetings with the teachers they did NOT take any steps to help him to better understand the work or to improve his grades. At one point they searched his belongings WITHOUT his permission and came upon drawing depicting a scene from a video game (the drawing was not done at or about school). They said these were violent drawings so they removed him from school and wouldn't let him back in until he saw a shrink. The doc said everything was ok, he went back to school. A few weeks later he was required to draw a picture of the D-Day beach landing scene for a grade from the same teacher that went through his belongings without permission. That was only the tip of the iceberg, I wish I had more room to go into detail. After a year of F's and D's (the majority were F's) he was passed to the next grade level. His previous years he was a B/C student.

my child loves this school ! she says that they are always supporting people who aren't fortunate enough to get food. also she says that all the after school activities are really great !

All of the teachers at the school are really great about keeping the parents inform.

This is my favorite middle school. Teachers are awesome and they provide educational strategies and they stay after school with you to make up tests or to tutor you...

Parents and gaurdians, Tarkanian is the most dangerous school i have ever enrolled my children in. I was appauled with the carelessness of the staff.
