Desert Oasis High School

There are no gangs at Desert Oasis High School, so, that's a ridiculous claim. It's not the best school, but it certainly isn't the worst. The teachers are outstanding, and they really do care. The people with the problem would be the students. If they're blaming teachers, they should be blaming themselves for poor grades and such. Desert Oasis is doing pretty well, for being in a state that's in the 50th state ranking in all of America..

This is the worst school ever, lots of drugs, gangs, bullying, I had to pull my child out, because the principle would not do anything about the gang activity in this school.

Very disappointed in this school, very poorly ran, no communication with the parents, Deans are on a power trip with the parents. My child will no longer be in the CCSD, my child will be in home school so he will get the education that this school is so lacking.

I agree whole heartedly ! The teachers have for the most part communicated well when asked via email. THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL has an ego that doesnt allow him to be contacted, return calls, or make appointments. The guy outta be reasigned to an inner city school, where fewer parents wanna talk to him. I do like th school and enviroment for my kids.

Unbelievably dissapointing. After several phone calls and emails I have yet to hear from any of my sons teachers or counslors. They seem to really care very little for the success of children. Why become a teacher if you don't care? Its very sad that this is a new school, and yet our first year was extremely dissapointing. No doubt I have a teenager who needs to be pushed, but it would be nice to know I sent him to school every day to be taught by teachers who actually care. The office staff is very unattentive and at times rude.

Amazing school with amazing people. Filled with intelligence, talent, and teamwork. I couldnt possibly dream of going to any other school. I wanted to go to LVA for singing, but then i saw D.O's choir and definitely knew i wanted to go there. . I love this school so much. Go diamondbacks!

Im am a freshman at this school. I dont understand how the rating on this website can only be a 5 out of 10! Last year was the first class to graduate and they had the higest graduating rate in the county. There were about 3 students who has scholarships for Ivy league schools, and that was the first graduating class! I remember going to schools in middle school and having ok teachers, bad teachers and great teachers. Well here all the teachers actually teach and they teach good. I highly recomend going to this school its very new and the floors are still shining! But most of all the education is great.

Im returning to this school for my senior year, and if you want a good high school but dont want to go to the magnet level, I recommend this one whole-heartedly. I went to Western for 2 years before going here, and the difference was exponential. The staff is extremely kind and helpful, teachers know what they are doing, and the campus is phenomenal. The Computers, English, and Foreign languages programs are incomparable to most others. The student body is picturesque as well. The graduation rate is amazing for a public school as well. Best in NV for student happiness! GO DIAMONDBACKS!!

Quite scary when a freshman cannot spell his own class name. I was a student here for one and a half years and served as a member of Student Council. I can say that the teachers here are great, devoted and love doing what they do. On the other hand, the principal, while great towards students, never raises a hand for discipline but rather leaves it to his fiery Dean of Students. Student wise, many of the students are quite petty and ingrained in their own views to the exclusion of all others. As an example, this last years yearbook committee purposely cuts out students 'not in favor' or puts in bad photographs.

We recently relocated to Las Vegas from overseas. My son just enrolled in to Desert Oasis High Scholl this semester. The school is a pleasant surprise to our whole family. The school facility is fantastic and brand new. The principle and teachers and school administraters are nice, helpful and enthusiastic. Some of the teachers have quite high standards. Teachers are all available for contact via email. Moreover I can follow up with my son s progress by log on to Parentlink . The school has many after school activities and many sports activities are available. It is well balanced for schoolwork and sports. The students are well behaved. It is truly a pleasant surprise! We also looked at several private schools and spoke to principles before but at the end we chose Desert Oasis High School. We are all very happy with our choice. Parent

This school is great! A lot of my teachers go above and beyond expectations and it rubs off on us and makes us want to work harder. The administration at this school is very productive and is always willing to help out parents and students with any problems. I am so glad I came to Desert Oasis High School and I look forward to my next three years.

The Administration seems 'overpowering' because they have zero tolerance for stupidity from the students. As a result, a lot of bad apples have been removed from the school, which makes for a better learning environment for the rest of the student body.
