Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I am a Senior at Canyon and have been attending this school for two years. We recently received a grant of over 1 million dollars for all new equipment and have also had the whole administration changed around. There are some new teachers, a new principal, and new assistants. There have been a great deal of changes to the rules around the school. The library is no longer open during lunch, 1 class period has been added to the schedule and no bathroom passes are to be passed out and a hall monitor must escort a student if they need to go. The education is great as long as you have the right teachers. There are some that do not teach very well and it is very difficult to succeed in their class. Though, with others, you simply HAVE to study otherwise you WILL fail. There are some GREAT teachers at Canyon and I believe they have a great magnet program (I've only heard from fellow classmates on this). Canyon has low test scores, yes, but that can easily change if the students actually cared. There are some students that do not care about their education and take it for granted. This school is more than a test score.

I am a Junior in the Magnet Program, majoring in Law. I have never had a problem with my teachers, but because of other student's decisions, teachers are directly impacted and often ruin the learning experience for the rest of us. I am trying to be the Valedictorian, but it is very hard to succeed in this environment. The classes aren't that hard, but the quality of teaching that the teachers offer is not that great compared to other schools. I have never seen such a lazy set of students than at Canyon Springs. These students really care less about school and that hurts my learning environment. Most magnet students do not even act like their supposed to, they do not uphold themselves with high standards, they just find it easy to blend in with the majority of the non-magnet crowd as lazy.

I am in my fourth year in the magnet program at Canyon Springs, have done well at Canyon, and am set to be the valedictorian. Personally I do not believe that this school is the best, nor the worst, school in Vegas. It is a culture shock coming onto campus and witnessing the diversity of the student body but one gets over it after awhile. There are occasional fights, but I just avoids them. Every school has it's ups and downs. I feel that I've made lasting friendships here and I truly believe that success comes from an individuals attitude; make the most of where you are and judge for yourself. Take out of live what you put into life. You determine your success anywhere you are.

Now sure Canyon may get a fair share of negative news but that is only one percent!! I am a junior in the magnet program (law) and i love it. It does indeed prepare you for the graduating senior thesis paper you will have to write in college. The law majors even take a pre-LSAT to prepare us for the law aspect. We are the only High School in the entire country that (a)has a court room in the school. (b)holds a simulated mock trial. and (c)holds an actual civil court case not many others can say that. Are graduate students have went to some of the best colleges in the nation and that is all thanks to the school. Yeah it is seperated into groups and cliques but name me one workplace, fortune 500 company, or other high school that isnt? I bet you cant. Think about that one.

My daughter and I both regret her going to this school. It has only caused her stress and disappointment. She is a great student who worked extremely hard to do well, but due to the low standards of teachers has stuggled. High school is supposed to be fun for these kids, but she has hated every minute of it. This is not a good school to send your child to.

I myself when i first entered the door of CSHS i was in a surprise. this school is really amazing because of its racial diversity. And on top of that they have amazing programs such as Forensics, which our team is doing really great and even though we have very few debaters in it, we are indeed the most united and most racially diverse, which often tends to frighten the other upper class schools. And our language programs are great. The Latin teacher is the best teacher that you can imagine. She might be tough at times but she can also be your friend and make learning Latin a heck of alot more fun for everyone. And of course our magnet program. I myself love the magnet program because, unlike other schools, if you don't apply yourself like you should, you get kicked out. but thats a good thing

I attended Canyon Springs High School for the magnet program and I had a diverse experience. When you come to Canyon you are diving into a crowd that truly is the high school experience. Their are daily fights, drugs in the bathrooms, corrupt and amazing teachers, violence and racism. I can tell you first hand that in order to do well and be recongnized in the magnet program you must be in student council or hang out with the student council kids. Their is not a lot of support or enthusiasm when it comes to the magnet program and personally I don't believe that you gain any useful skills coming out of the program. Some of the teachers are amazing yet the ignorant teachers rule out the amazing teachers. I honestly can say the vibe on campus is one of violence, hostility and racism. The school needs to be reorganized.

Canyon Springs allowed my daughter to ditch classes without informing me. She was a magnet student and they did not help her when she asked for help. In my opinion, Canyon Springs HS is a disgrace to schools everywhere.

Yeah sure our school has been on the news more often than most, but thats mainly because of the stupid kids that get bused in. Cheyenne, which got most of the bad kids 5 years ago, but now they all come to canyon and it is making our school look bad. This school has one of the best broadcast journalism and the only school to have a mock trial and hold an actual court case. Yes, it is a leadership and law magnet program and thats what we are doing. I personaly am not part of the magnet, but I notice all the bad things and i stay away from it, so I am perfectly fine and safe. With the new principal, it seems that our school is getting better but teach your child to stay away from the bad kids and they will do fine.

Canyon Springs is an Amazing School, the teachers are great, the staff is great and we the students are doing the best we can. For todays youth it is hard to grow up and not be effected by whats going on around us and in the world. Yes we all can get in trouble and do thing were not suppose to but the staff and everyone else at Canyon make our lives easier for us, and each day we are learning and growing together as a community. one day we will all be civil, get along and respect one another! C-Springs You Know!

I am a student at Canyon Springs High school. I am also enrolled in the magnet program and feel that the program is very poor. the program doesn't have very good structure. Had the school been located at better location there is no dought that, that school would be an excellant school, but as it stands it is beyond repair and has not a chance to redem its self. Most of the teachers in the magnet program are exceptional but there are some teachers that need to be reevaluated. For any future students you will find it very difficult to adjust to this, almost hostile, enviornment and will need to prepare your state of mind because it is not like an other school in the district. (not nessesarily in a good way)

I find to school to be excellent! Canyon has the same problems that other schools in the valley have. Yet, due to it's diverse student population, it is a convenient target to criticize. What people do not recognize is that Canyon Springs has more benefits than drawbacks. It is a school that is making history. First, it has been nationally recognized for its broadcasting. Second, it has some of the best athletic teams in the state, specifically in football, basketball, and tennis. Third, it is the only school to have a simulated crime scene on campus and have a full on mock trial as well as be the first school to have a real civil trial on campus. We also have a lot more benefits, but I don't have enough room.

As a student that attends Canyon Springs and in the magnet program I feel asthough the program is definately falling apart. I am not learning as much as I should be especially in my magnet class. I even feel that I could get taught better from an online class then at this school.

I love teaching at this High School we have great students. I wouldn't want to teach anywhere else. I do not feel unsafe here and enjoy coming to school everyday. There are fights here once in a blue moon and that is not any different then every high school in this district or country for that matter.

I am a student at Canyon Springs and the magnet program is amazing! I can't express how much the magnet program has influenced my life. For those speak against our school just can't hack it! The school is all around terrific. We have national awarded programs and outstanding sports teams. Schools will always have bad apples, and this new norm for our school of one bad apple ruining it for all the others will not stop our school from succeeding to the top.

Canyon Springs High School is a hidden gem of the Clark County School District. The magnet program is phenomenal and teaches pertinent leadership and law lessons incorporated into all four years. The broadcast journalism program, which is not even a part of the magnet, is nationally recognized and is consistently the most competitive of its kind in the state each year. Class of 2007 graduates from the school went on to attend such prestigious schools as Georgetown, Northwestern, University of San Diego, and Arizona State. The school's varsity basketball and football teams are extremely competitive, with the football team completing its season last month at a 9-2 record, and the basketball team currently at a 6-0 record. Last year the school produced both the men and women's tennis singles state champions. Academics and athletics alike, the school is above average.

The School is not very safe and students misbehave in and out of the classrooms. The magnet program is great but it is falling apart as soon as we get a new teacher they are either a flake and do a terrible job or they move on quickly. Students argue and often fight its a very scary place to learn.

Canyon Springs High School is one of the best schools in the county. The teachers do their best to make every student count. The parent involvement is a little low, but the students still do their best to make the school a nice enviornment. On a scale of one through ten it is a eight and a half.
