I am a Junior in the Magnet Program, majoring in Law. I have never had a problem with my teachers, but because of other student's decisions, teachers are directly impacted and often ruin the learning experience for the rest of us. I am trying to be the Valedictorian, but it is very hard to succeed in this environment. The classes aren't that hard, but the quality of teaching that the teachers offer is not that great compared to other schools. I have never seen such a lazy set of students than at Canyon Springs. These students really care less about school and that hurts my learning environment. Most magnet students do not even act like their supposed to, they do not uphold themselves with high standards, they just find it easy to blend in with the majority of the non-magnet crowd as lazy.

I am in my fourth year in the magnet program at Canyon Springs, have done well at Canyon, and am set to be the valedictorian. Personally I do not believe that this school is the best, nor the worst, school in Vegas. It is a culture shock coming onto campus and witnessing the diversity of the student body but one gets over it after awhile. There are occasional fights, but I just avoids them. Every school has it's ups and downs. I feel that I've made lasting friendships here and I truly believe that success comes from an individuals attitude; make the most of where you are and judge for yourself. Take out of live what you put into life. You determine your success anywhere you are.

Now sure Canyon may get a fair share of negative news but that is only one percent!! I am a junior in the magnet program (law) and i love it. It does indeed prepare you for the graduating senior thesis paper you will have to write in college. The law majors even take a pre-LSAT to prepare us for the law aspect. We are the only High School in the entire country that (a)has a court room in the school. (b)holds a simulated mock trial. and (c)holds an actual civil court case not many others can say that. Are graduate students have went to some of the best colleges in the nation and that is all thanks to the school. Yeah it is seperated into groups and cliques but name me one workplace, fortune 500 company, or other high school that isnt? I bet you cant. Think about that one.

I give this a rating of a 2. I feel my daughter did not get a good education out of this school. I would never recommend the magnet program to anyone.

My daughter and I both regret her going to this school. It has only caused her stress and disappointment. She is a great student who worked extremely hard to do well, but due to the low standards of teachers has stuggled. High school is supposed to be fun for these kids, but she has hated every minute of it. This is not a good school to send your child to.

I myself when i first entered the door of CSHS i was in a surprise. this school is really amazing because of its racial diversity. And on top of that they have amazing programs such as Forensics, which our team is doing really great and even though we have very few debaters in it, we are indeed the most united and most racially diverse, which often tends to frighten the other upper class schools. And our language programs are great. The Latin teacher is the best teacher that you can imagine. She might be tough at times but she can also be your friend and make learning Latin a heck of alot more fun for everyone. And of course our magnet program. I myself love the magnet program because, unlike other schools, if you don't apply yourself like you should, you get kicked out. but thats a good thing
