Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Great school! Magnet academy is great and we learn a lot from the programs! Currently I am a Sophomore in the taking the Pre-Medicine Magnet Course and I have to tell you, I have never seen teaching like this before! The teachers and administration here is awesome and so is our School Spirit! We have great assembly's and Spirit Days that even the staff is very enthusiastic about! As for the Band Program, it is really outstanding! Our new Music Coordinator works really hard and gets all of us students working and doing our best! Rancho H.S. is a great school, don't be fooled about the rumors about Gangs/Drugs and all that hoohaw. 10/10 Rancho is an outstanding school!

Our school is an excellent magnet academy, where kids are well guided and pushed to do their best. Teachers are friendly and will do just about anything in their power to ensure success in their students. The music program is phenomenal. In addition to the wonderful and comfortable campus, Rancho offers a large variety of challenging courses for students to partake in. I love my school! Oh! Did I forget to mention the raging spirit provided by our awesome student section! Our school dances tend to have amazing attendance, our parent involvement doesn't compare to other schools, I just can't get enough of this school! We are a really great school!

I was very concerned about sending my son to Rancho due to an older posting , however the school has been wonderful . My son is very happy . The teachers are wonderful and very responsive. It has been very positive! I am very happy with the school, staff , sports available, clubs , classes ,electives, the list goes on . It is amazing how much is available at the school. Its far from just an average curriculum . I urge parents to look at this school. I just can say enough to do it justice . Also, the school is very safe.

I'm a senior at Rancho High School and I've taken the Pre-Med magnet program the past three years and a half. I absolutely love everything about it! The classes I took here look amazing on my transcript and I've gotten scholarships and accepted into the college I want to go to because of it. The AP teachers here are absolutely amazing and they are passionate in what they do. I have learned a lot from them and in return, I've passed all my AP exams. I've never felt more prepared for college and I thank all of my teachers for that.

This is a great school with a great vision. The teachers themselves are quite inspiring and not only bring education, understanding, and learning into the classroom but also amusement, thoughtful discussion, and high expectations. Furthermore, the staff here provide excellent support and are willing to cooperate. The wide variety of courses available to the students provide students to control what they want learn, when, as well as how- as an open period, online, through AIS, or just simply in the school. Lastly, the environment here is simply amazing!

My son attends this school and let me tell you that it is absolutely amazing! The expectations reach the skies and the teachers are inspiring. Although in a bad neighborhood, the school is truly a role model with many courses, a good environment, and good leadership. The staff members are quite cooperative.

Rancho is a great school and even though I'm not in the magnet program some of my friends are and apparently its great too. And for those parents who are worried about your child interacting with non magnet students there's a high possibility they will but we are not all bad. The school is not filled with gangs and drugs plus its a pretty good neighborhood. Some teachers are bad but a huge percentage are awesome and help their students. And our school dose have spirit. So don't judge rancho by rumors you heard because I go their and I know that my school ROCKS.

For all those people that say rancho is a bad school they obviously don't know anything about it. This school does have teachers that care and when I'm reading the bad reviews I'm appalled because they don't give rancho a chance they also say they have a bad neighborhood and that teachers dont really care those are rumors and anyways in every school you hear things no school is perfect and if you're one of those snotty parents then send your kid to a private school atleast rancho won't have self centered students that they believe they're too good for everyone. Overall rancho is a fair school but hey who says schools are perfect each one of them has their flaws.

My son is in the aviation magnet program and the band. He loves the school, most the teachers are excellent. The administration keeps a firm hand on the school but has a good learning environment. He has had no problems with non magnet kids and looks forward to graduating from Rancho. I do wish more parents would get involved, but the ones who do are dedicated.

My son and I am very concerned. My is going to start in Rancho magnet high school, and we are wondering about the bad neigborhood. Also my son overheard that there is a room where teachers confiscate weapons, knives.etc. I understant that there are students in a regular High school, is that true? If is so, What is the chance that my son gets involved with the students that are not in the magnet program? Can anybody answer this question? Thank you

Being an employee of CCSD and a mother of a student, it's very important for me to be very involved in my child's education. Being that my child has been an honor student since grade school, it is very important that she get the best education she can have and RANCHO has one of the BEST magent programs in CCSD. Since the first day of her freshman year I would ask my daughter how her day went and she would always reply with a positive attitude "I love it mom, I love my teachers!" With that said I knew my dauther was in the best hands of educators. She will continue the medical program at RANCHO till she graduates in 2012. Like they say NEVER judge a book by it cover because you never know what's waiting inside!!!

This school is awful, in a bad neighborhood, with little school spirit, and the teachers don't give a rat's blankety blank for the students' education. I switched my child out soon after this school year started.

The person that said they found the scool to be 'an effort to improve the overall test performance of a school at risk of losing federal funding' got it exactly right. This school may have an 'OK' magnet program, but it's fervor is not felt by the rest of the student body not in the program. School spirit is low, and so are teaching standards for the most part. I would never send my child to this school, knowing first hand as a student myself, how disappointing this school can be.

I find it quite pathetic that because this school is located near North Las Vegas they believe it is full of criminals and low lives. It is quite ignorant of them that they believe this area is dangerous. Take a look at the news and you can find that most school crimes occur in high end, rich areas! Rancho High School's magnet program and ROTC are nationally accredited and ranked! And the 'general population' as some like to refer to them, are students whom work hard and share a sense of school spirit. Unity, education, and safety are top prioritites in this school. I am proud to say I am an alumni from Rancho High School!

I was nervous at first sending my daughter here this year. But, the quality of the magnet prgram and the teachers have outshined any uneasiness I had. This will be a great experience for her versus the sheltered life at Green Valley.

The magnet school is not stellar. The coordinator is unresponsive and the administration is not held accountable. This school is a place to lose your kid as it struggles to teach english and has an unbelievable lack of; care, concern and education!

This school is two schools; the Magnet Program and as the kids call it the 'general population'. As a parent of a child in the Magnet Program I find it is, at best, an effort to improve the overall test performance of a school at risk of losing federal funding. The administration is not engaged nor responsive a a productive way.

I attend this school now! It is so great. The medical program is as best as ever. They offer so many AP classes. Don't be fooled about security. We have an indoor school now and most fights occur out of school or in secluded areas. I hope to see you there!

I love the school so much. I love the Aviation program that I am in. I have fun at school eveyday. The school premises is beautiful. If you saw the inside without seeing the surrounding neighborhood, you would not be able to guess it is in the heart of the ghetto. I have not had any problems with students this school year so far. But I do love the dance team. Go Rams!

Rancho High School is considered a bad school beacuse people only look to the outside, they should think about academics not the look of it besides now with the new building and all new, educaution is better. With the new building came new stuff. And if your child is interested in Aviation or Medicine(Medical) you should enroll them in the 4-year Magnet Programs.just go to http://magnet.ccsd.net/ or for Rancho HS go to http://magnet.ccsd.net/high/rancho.html or http://www.ccsd.net/schools/rancho/

Contrary to popular belief, Rancho High School is a great institution of learning... it just isnt in the ideal location. With a police station 2 blocks north, and Channel 3 news 1 block west, it's virtually guaranteed that any scuffle in the hallways will be heard about on the evening news. As both a recent alumni and older brother to a current student, I can say wholeheartedly that the quality of learning, dedication of staff, and school pride is above reproach. The magnet program in particular at Rancho is nationally ranked as being among the best in the country. And for the 2006 school year, they're getting a brand new campus, books... everything negative associated with the old campus will be a moot point. I couldnt be prouder than to one day have my own son or daughter graduate wearing the colors of my alma mater. Go Rams!

We are loving the new school building. Security guards is visible. Safety is being addressed by the school. Some of the security guards has kids going to school at Rancho. Now if we can get the state to provide new books we r in business ! I don't mind contibuting to pay for new books and I am sure the other parents feel the same way. I don't mind helping in expenses. Our goal is to have the children learn and have books up to date. Go Rancho !

Rancho is a horrible school. The facilities are dirty and unkept. The whole school should be condemned. My daughter has teachers who curse and yell continuously at the students. She is enrolled in the medical magnet program and I have never had to deal with so many idiotic people in my life. They constantly give you a big run around when it comes to parent meetings with the magnet office. The principal is an arrogant, self-absorbed man who takes credit for all of the students hard work. The art programs are terrible. I'm overjoyed that my daughter is graduating out of this horrible school in a few weeks. My suggestion: don't consider Rancho for your child.

For those who dont know Rancho has gone downhill big time! Former students from The Ranch would be appalled from the injustice students are made to face each day, From administrators who are quick to implement discipline without gathering the facts,to restrooms that are poorly supplied for the students. If you want the facts check out Rancho for yourself, because I see this everyday with my own two eyes.If you descide to visit The Ranch talk to the students because they have no reason to lie.

My Son attended 9th and 10th grade at Ranco High before we PCS'd from Las Vegas in June of 2003. I was not impressed with the School or the Principal. I worked with one person at that school who seemed to really care about the students and that was Mr Calderone. I can tell you that if your student has a learning problem than you really need to be on top of things. My son Misses that school, but I DON'T! If you can afford to send your child to a priviate school than I would!

Rancho High School is a great school. It has a great diversity of students which bring in a welcoming enviroment. There are also great programs and activities for Teenagers to enjoy, For example Student council, Folklorico, Band, Diverse sports and Mariachi. It has some wonderful teachers who are not in it for the money but the true satisfaction of seeing your child succeed. In addition it has a great and career fullfiling Aviation and Medical Magnet Program.

Susan Mictcum has been very helpful with problems occuring reguarding scheduling for after school activities associated with the magnet portion. Due to the location of the school and the ethnic student enrollment there have allready been a few confrontations with my white child and the predominant hispanic population. Again the principal is hard to reach and has yet to return 3 messages.
