For all those people that say rancho is a bad school they obviously don't know anything about it. This school does have teachers that care and when I'm reading the bad reviews I'm appalled because they don't give rancho a chance they also say they have a bad neighborhood and that teachers dont really care those are rumors and anyways in every school you hear things no school is perfect and if you're one of those snotty parents then send your kid to a private school atleast rancho won't have self centered students that they believe they're too good for everyone. Overall rancho is a fair school but hey who says schools are perfect each one of them has their flaws.
My son is in the aviation magnet program and the band. He loves the school, most the teachers are excellent. The administration keeps a firm hand on the school but has a good learning environment. He has had no problems with non magnet kids and looks forward to graduating from Rancho. I do wish more parents would get involved, but the ones who do are dedicated.

Now days things happen at all schools regardless of area so with that said all parents hope we will make the right choice for our kids and so far I am happy with our decision.

My son and I am very concerned. My is going to start in Rancho magnet high school, and we are wondering about the bad neigborhood. Also my son overheard that there is a room where teachers confiscate weapons, knives.etc. I understant that there are students in a regular High school, is that true? If is so, What is the chance that my son gets involved with the students that are not in the magnet program? Can anybody answer this question? Thank you

Being an employee of CCSD and a mother of a student, it's very important for me to be very involved in my child's education. Being that my child has been an honor student since grade school, it is very important that she get the best education she can have and RANCHO has one of the BEST magent programs in CCSD. Since the first day of her freshman year I would ask my daughter how her day went and she would always reply with a positive attitude "I love it mom, I love my teachers!" With that said I knew my dauther was in the best hands of educators. She will continue the medical program at RANCHO till she graduates in 2012. Like they say NEVER judge a book by it cover because you never know what's waiting inside!!!

This school is awful, in a bad neighborhood, with little school spirit, and the teachers don't give a rat's blankety blank for the students' education. I switched my child out soon after this school year started.

The person that said they found the scool to be 'an effort to improve the overall test performance of a school at risk of losing federal funding' got it exactly right. This school may have an 'OK' magnet program, but it's fervor is not felt by the rest of the student body not in the program. School spirit is low, and so are teaching standards for the most part. I would never send my child to this school, knowing first hand as a student myself, how disappointing this school can be.

I was a little afraid of going to Rancho because of the bad neighborhood it's in, but it is actually a wonderful school. The medical program that I am in, is great! I will be there all four years :D

I find it quite pathetic that because this school is located near North Las Vegas they believe it is full of criminals and low lives. It is quite ignorant of them that they believe this area is dangerous. Take a look at the news and you can find that most school crimes occur in high end, rich areas! Rancho High School's magnet program and ROTC are nationally accredited and ranked! And the 'general population' as some like to refer to them, are students whom work hard and share a sense of school spirit. Unity, education, and safety are top prioritites in this school. I am proud to say I am an alumni from Rancho High School!

I was nervous at first sending my daughter here this year. But, the quality of the magnet prgram and the teachers have outshined any uneasiness I had. This will be a great experience for her versus the sheltered life at Green Valley.

The magnet school is not stellar. The coordinator is unresponsive and the administration is not held accountable. This school is a place to lose your kid as it struggles to teach english and has an unbelievable lack of; care, concern and education!

This school is two schools; the Magnet Program and as the kids call it the 'general population'. As a parent of a child in the Magnet Program I find it is, at best, an effort to improve the overall test performance of a school at risk of losing federal funding. The administration is not engaged nor responsive a a productive way.

The Magnet program is stellar!! The Coordinator is energetic and is there for my child. Her teachers are also excellent, especially her Geometry teacher. This school is the best kept secret in the city!

I attend this school now! It is so great. The medical program is as best as ever. They offer so many AP classes. Don't be fooled about security. We have an indoor school now and most fights occur out of school or in secluded areas. I hope to see you there!
