Mt. Charleston Elementary School is an excellent school. It serves a diverse population. The teachers care and everybody works hard together to make sure all of the kids learn and excel. It's the best location of the overall school system here as this valley is very spread out. We made the best choice moving into this school zoning!!! The principal and all of the staff are very attentive but most of all my child loves his school and friends and teachers!! Thank you all at Mt. Charleston....

We recently moved from a rental into a home. I was only willing to search within the Mount Charleston zoning. It was worth it. The teachers actually care about the children. They incorporate layered learning so while the students are learning reading they are also learning math, it is safe and a wonderful place to have your children learn.

Mt. Charleston Elementary school has excellent and consisitent leadership, highly-qualified, compasionate, and professional teachers, and efficient, hard working office and custodial staff. It has a well-maintained, beautiful campus and although it is an all modular school that doesn't matter. It is not what the school looks like, it is about what happens in the classrooms. There are excellent assemblies, motivational contests, incentives, and unique programs offered for students. I love the fact that each class walks around the campus circle every day after lunch before returning to class as a group. I see the principal out on the soccer field actually playing soccer with the students!!!! It is an awesome school.

About the tests

In 2010-2011 Nevada used the Criterion Referenced Test (CRT) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and in grades 5 and 8 in science and writing. The CRT is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Nevada. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
