My children attended this school. The staff was very supportive and friendly. The teachers reach out to the students within a day if they had any questions on any of the assignments. The curriculum was okay but the homework was over whelming. My children would be doing their work all night to catch up. In general, the learning environment was awesome and the meet ups with other students were fun.

This school has changed our family's lives the curriculum is individualized and it not only challenges my son but it has given him a sense of so much pride. I love the teachers they are very helpful.

My daughter graduated from NCA, she loved it because it allowed her to work at her own pace, the teachers were very involved and were available constantly through phone, email and live lessons. I felt the teachers gave the students plenty opportunities to succeed with assignments as students could go in and redo certain assignments for better grade if the student chose to do so. Opportunities were better for us than at a brick and mortar school.

Nevada Connections Academy is an online free public school that is an excellent alternative to traditional school. The curriculum is superior and I like that the student can work at their own pace, no rushing. As a parent I have more involvement in my child's education. The support from the teachers to the technical support is excellent. Someone is always there to help when needed. There is numerous opportunity for the children to meet at lunch bunch or field trips. My child has excelled and learned so much since starting at NCA. Students also have numerous electives and clubs and activities to join that are not available in a traditional school. Superior learning in a safe and healthy environment.

I was happy to see that the history would teach my son about presidents before popes (unlike K-12). But, after seeing the lackluster material, poor customer support, and onslaught of issues with the shoddy software. I think I would rather my kid learn about popes again... At least he was learning. I see this school possibly damaging more kids than it will help, this is sad considering how poor NV schools rank. We parents are given the choice of bottom of the barrel or being rolled over by that barrel. I am starting to think I must leave this state just so my kid can receive a basic education (not even a good one)...

NCA is a free school that my daughter attends online at home. NCA sent us a free computer, a headset with microphone, books, art kit, science kit and math kit. She has been in NCA for 4 yrs and loves it! She likes that she can go at her own pace, move ahead quickly in some subjects and take more time in others. She loves to participate in the live lessons that are Powerpoint presentations where she is able to chat with other students in a chatbox, use the microphone to answer questions and break out into separate work sessions with other students. We love that the schedule is flexible and there is enough work to do to keep her busy and challenged, and yet some of it is optional. Keeping track of attendance is super easy. Her curriculum calendar is all set up for her in a daily To Do List. Homeschool has helped her tremendously, as she is easily distracted and needs my attention to keep on task. I include Bible study as part of her school day. I'm able to see her progress daily and celebrate with her a test well done. Social interaction was a concern at first, but she has had violin class, PE in the park, ice skating, school field trips, church youth group and Girl Scouts.

It really is the most rewarding and freeing experience. You get sent top notch curriculum, a computer and all the supplies you will need. It is a state funded public school that operates virtually so there is no cost to us, therefore still getting what my tax dollars pay for! I get to be with my children everyday and guide them through their lessons. We get to set our schedule how it works for us and can even work on weekends if we want to. Your teachers are always available by email and phone for help and they give great feedback on the assignments that they grade. We get together with other students at the school for field trips, my children's favorite is the monthly ice skating! Because you work at your children's pace you can take your time to master every subject and move ahead fast, we always get our work done early second semester, instead of taking off all those random holidays like President's day etc... we do extra work and then by the end of the school year I get to give my kids an extra week of summer! You will work hard as a learning coach, but it is really worth it. I cannot express how awesome this school has been for our family and I highly recommend it.

I absolutly love this school!! I have two of my three children attending so far just waiting for my third to be accepted in the lottery for this year as well. I love the curriculum its more challinging for my children then what they where geing in school. I also love the fact that they are in a safe enviroment and not getting bullied from anyone. The reason I looked into this school in the firs place is because my 4th grader was getting severly bullied by her teacher of all the people now you have to worry about teachers being mean. But I am absolutly happy with are choice as a family to do online home schooling it is working out wonderful for all of us. It was different in the begging but with all the wonderful suport from the teachers and the school itself we learned how to do everything very easily and fast. I will be telling everyone i know about this school and hope it can changes their lives like it did ours! Thank you so much Connections Academy!!!

This is a great alternative for your child. There definitly is a learning curve when you start, but the teachers are helpful and available. Be prepared to be an active part of your child's learning experience but the rewards are excellent. My daughter is in 8th grade and loves it, she is planning on continuing through highschool and is learning more than she ever would have in a traditional school. She has more choices in what she can learn and is working above her grade level.

Excellent curriculum, great teachers, safe//secure and well organized. Educational and fun field trips - social opportunities abound throughout the state. Quick response from teachers for needed help or questions too... This was an answer to our prayers for our ADHD 2nd grader and our gifted 5th grader (who was allowed to slip from high honor roll in the brick & mortar school. This is our 1st year enrolled in Connections Academy and we LOVE this school and will continue with it throughout our boys' school careers.

My daughter has attended Connections academy for two years and will continue in the fall. We love the flexibilty and the quality of the curriculum. My daughter is able to work at her own pace, which is about one year ahead of her grade level. She stays challenged, focused, and interested in learning. The teachers keep lines of communication open and are very good at responding to requests for help. My daughter happens to be gifted, but I have met other families from connections academy who have typical students or children with learning disabilities who feel the same. It is a much more individualized education and I'm very thankful for it.

Excellent curriculum from a highly accredited school throughout all cities in Nevada. If you want more involvement from teachers and school activities that are both educational and fun then send your children here. I have all 3 of my children attending NCA. They are progressing very well with stellar grades and high positive social growth. They are able to achieve there goals in other areas like, music and sports with a very flexible schedule. Also scheduling family and social events within the educational itinerary is very easy. Go to www.connectionsacademy.com and register for a free webinair where you can learn about the school from other parents and get answers to some concerns you may have.

Challenging curriculum, personalized learning plan, customize your schedule, teachers respond quickly to any question, variety of clubs and activities, cater to different styles of learning, regular field trips and social opportunities. You don't have to be tied to a computer all day, they offer videos, textbooks (online & hardcover), workbooks, writing assignments. A great opportunity to be involved in your child's education. They can learn at their pace, advance ahead in one subject while taking their time in another. Perfect for those parents like me who always wanted to homeschool, but never thought they could.

We love this virtual school !! My son completed 7th grade at Connections Academy and is currently excelling in the 8th grade there. He has really struggled in the past in public (and private) school. I was very intimidated by the prospect of online or home school, wondering if I would be intellectually up to the challengeof overseeing his studies. C.A. proved to be the perfect solution for us. Took awhile at first to get the hang of it, but the staff & teachers are incredibly patient, understanding & helpful. Trust me.. I'm NOT the sharpest knife in the drawer, if you know what I mean; but with the assistance of these great people, even * I * have become quite proficient at the whole thing. It allows so much more flexibility as far as scheduling, vacations, as well as customizing the learning plan to fit our needs. Highly recommend it!

This will be our 2nd year with Nevada Connections Academy, but the first with schooling all three of our children at home. The curriculum is top notch and challenging, yet fun and exciting. We were not happy with the way the local school district is handled and the lack of education our children were getting in the traditional public school. I am very happy with being more involved with my girls' day to day education and being able to pinpoint where they are having problems and handling them right away.

This school is a perfect fit for my son. He was categorized at an early age with learning disabilities including dyslexia and was never able to keep up in a traditional school setting. Since joining NCA in May of last year, he has improved his C- average to an A- average. For the first time, he is enjoying school because we are completing assignments in a 6 hour school day instead of 6 hours at school and another 4 or 5 of homework brought home. This requires full parent involvement - as it has many homeschooling aspects, but has been a miracle for our family. The teachers, curriculum, immediate grading, and accountibility are FAR more advanced and organized than what I experienced in Washoe County. I recommend this alternative to each and every parent I meet.

My daughter is in her second year with NVCA. We have had a wonderful experience and she wishes to continue with the school. Our teacher has always responded to our needs at a moments notice. It does take extra effort from the parents to monitor the lessons and scheduling, but the individual learning that is accomplished is worth it. If your child is above average, but not allowed in the GATE system, I would consider this school.

I have my son in Connections Academy online and I have to say I am not any more impressed with the teachers here then in the actual county schools. They don't do what they say they are going to do, they don't follow through and if my son needs help they don't help. I am unimpressed and will be looking into something better for next year. Even though I have him doing more actual school work than he ever did in a class room he is still failing and the teachers have not been helpful there either.
