In the Washoe County School District, students generally attend a school in the attendance zone based on where they live. Gifted education services are available for elementary, middle and high school students, and the district has an International Baccalaureate (IB) program. High schoolers can apply to attend a magnet school, an alternative school for at-risk students or an academy that offers occupational classes.Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as “in need of improvement” have the right to attend a higher-performing school in the district.
