Pinkerton is an institution and children are numbers. If your child fits the mold they created is a great way of putting it. If they do, and they re self motivated, then there are lots of resources, but anything outside the institutionally expected guidelines and forget it. Even if you child is a good student, if they have tardiness problems or special needs, there is no progressive thinking or accommodating. It's strictly by the book. I have heard 'That's the policy' way too many times.

Excellent opportunities to experience highest quality music, art, sports and even vocational interests. Programs can be competitive. Freshman sports teams are available. Beautiful campus looks like small NE college. Excellent administration, guidance, supervision. Excellent college prep programs and opportunities for internships during junior and senior year to experience many career opportunities. Large regional high school (3 towns) in a small town environment.

We are very happy with the education our son is getting at PA. He's a very bright student and the classes he is in are challenging and interesting. I also have a special needs niece who graduated from PA, and they were very good at meeting her needs and finding her strengths. They gave her the opportunity to follow her interests -- even if it seemed too hard for her -- and she exceeded expectations. My son plays on a very competitive sports team and loves it. My niece did Special Olympics there and loved it. The music program is outstanding. Parents need to stay involved -- they do a great job of communicating with parents but it's still a huge school. I recommend PA highly.

I'm not a parent, yet a student who once attended Pinkerton Academy. After only two years there I transfered out because of a personal decision. Looking back on that decision, I regret it. Not only was Pinkerton a good school academically, it was a good school to develop and enhance a person's people skills. The teacher's are more understanding and caring then the teachers at the other school I went to (Central Catholic in Lawrence MA). They do not see you as a number but as an individual with the right to learn and be taught. I was close with all my teachers. Pinkerton offers a lot of freedom, what a person does with it is there own choice. It is an all around good school. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in good academics and a fun atmosphere that balance each other out. I loved Pinkerton Academy.

Pinkertons Campus, available learning tools and programs are incredible. There are many teachers that will go the extra mile to help that student who isn t grasping the material and take a different approach to the teaching style. Pinkerton once had a Woodsman team. It was one the only sport in the school that competed on the collegiate level and won more championships than its competitors. At the time it was the only sport that had all social groups together as a team, from football players to your less socially involved students; it was the melting pot of school society. Unfittingly the school didn't recognized the team as a true sport and it now it no longer exist. A true shame seeing it was high schoolers setting records and beating colleges such as Dartmouth, Syracuse and others from New Brunswick Canada to West Virginia. The last year they competed.

Pinkerton Academy is higher learning at its finest. The educators work very hard and take pride in both their work, and their students. There is unlimited opportunity for achievement and recognition. The school contributes to the community and there is always a chance for a student to get involved. The campus is amazing and the school has provided every tool in each state of the art facility to guarentee higher learning. The sports teams are highly recognized and are facilitated by reputable coachs, who really do care about your childs overall performance on and off the field/court. If your child is motivated, and wants to reach for the stars, there is no finer school in New Hampshire. I should know, I overcame a very difficult time in my life, while at Pinkerton. I wouldn't be such a successful leader today without the support of the administration, faculty, and coaching staff. Yes, it is a very large school. But, no they don't see you as a number.

A great school if you fit the box they have created. Homework will undo the brightest student if they don't do it. Pinkerton is not the place for your child to start to learn organizational skills, so they better have them before they get there. Pinkerton is not known for accomodating students with disabilities although sending Districts try their best to offset this. It is not that they don't care or are not sensitive to children with disabilites actually they have a pretty good program for the severe children. However, if your child doesn't read they present with the opinion that your child shouldn't be in high school without the skills to be successful and why didn't the sending District do their job to remediate the child before sending them to High School - they have a point. If your child fits into the box they can get a great education and go on to a competitive college. The problem with the organizational skills is that the sending middle schools do little to develop efficency in this area for the students prior to entering High School although they are all making strides to correct this. Parental involvement is key and seems to drop off when children enter High School when it is most needed. There are so many students at Pinkerton it is almost impossible for the teachers to monitor each and every student if the parent isn't paying attention don't expect this school to pick up the slack for you. They have a wide variety of after-school programs for all children encourage your child to join and get involved with one this will help them join the community at Pinkerton.
