The staff at Emerson is absolutely outstanding. Individual student attention and building self-respect and values are just as important as academics to these educators. Children's safety is incredibly important to them. Until my son arrived here NOBODY took the time to read important information in his file that the staff at Emerson not only read but called a meeting with me to address ways to meet his challenges with compassion and safety. I cannot recommend this school enough.
The Emerson has good teachers and a great principal. I feel they really care. The biggest problem for this school is that it is located in a dysfunctional district. The towns are pitted against each other and spend most of their time arguing. The bottom line for everything is the dollar. If you have a special ed. child this is not the school for you only because the district will not give your child what they need nor will it support you. You will be working against the upper administration.
Since transferring our daughter to Emerson School her grades have improved above and beyond expectation. At her previous school she was kept in special education. Emerson school tested and determined that she no longer needed special education. The teachers and staff at this school are excellent! They take the time to work with the kids. They do not 'Label' the kids at this school. The teachers and staff really do care about each and every student.
