Congratulations to Hampstead Academy's Middle School students for winning the National Verizon App Challenge and the First New Hampshire Robotics Championship this past fall.
I was a student who went from pre k through 8th grade. Up through 5th grade was great. I loved almost all of my teachers. Then I hit the upper school. This part of the school was a failure to say the least. The teachers were not versed in their subjects, and the students corrected them almost daily. I was not prepare for high school when I got there. I was behind in Math, and English. Math was inexcusable, I graduated with A's in Algebra and was completely unprepared for taking Algebra AGAIN. My English teacher did not explain anything well, and I found myself behind in writing and all forms of literature.
Terrible Math program!! I mean really, really bad. Despite getting A's on his report card, my child absolutely struggles with his public high school math curriculum. He has had to repeat Algebra 1 after taking it at Hampstead. Save your money, it is not worth it. Not to mention the favoritism that is shown to some kids at the school. My son was a straight "A" student and never caused any trouble, but was not a "favorite" We wish we would've sent him to The Pike School. Very money oriented school and as a result the let everyone in, even those who aren't mission appropriate. Save your money, there are other private schools that do a MUCH better job.
Not a good investment. Had my children gone public to Atkinson Academy they would have been better prepared for SATs. They received mostly As and Bs in every course - yet did so poorly on SATs? Our neighbors send their children to AA and they received mostly Bs in school but did much better in SATs. Since SATs is the test you want to do well in, I would say my neighbors' children were better prepared.
Hampstead Academy is a fantastic place for children! I have 1 graduate from HA and 2 children that are currently in the program. My oldest child was extremely well prepared to handle the rigor of a highly competitive NH prep school after graduating from HA. The faculty is top notch and the community like atmosphere is warm and inviting. The academic program is challenging, individualized, and complete. The teachers are very supportive and really know each student well. The Language Arts and writing program is amazing! The love of reading and writing is instilled in the children from a very young age. Constructive comments and encouragement by the teachers help to develop writing and comprehension skills necessary for high school. My children are developing into confident learners due to the strong, positive role models found at HA. The music/drama classes are an integral part of the program and the teachers are upbeat, dynamic, happy people. I can't say enough about HA, if you are looking for a GREAT SCHOOL, you need look no further than Hampstead Academy!
My daughter is entering grade 8 after an amazing journey since nursery at this extraordinary school. She is an accomplished, responsible and mature girl who has been nurtured by the safe environment and strong academics. She began in nursery following the Golden Rule..respect yourself, respect others, respect property. These values are instilled from an early age and lend to building great character in children. They have expectations that they meet and goals to achieve. Each grade level builds on the one before. The teaching staff is well qualified, caring, and they are able to know your child very well with the small ratio of students. Unlike other private elementary schools , your child is not a number, they are a person. My daughter will be applying to private high schools in a few months. I am certain that she will excel in any school she chooses to attend because she is ready to spread her wings and fly high. She is confident and she is a eager learner. She has always loved learning and at Hampstead Academy, that is the goal..to educate the whole child and instill the curiosity and love of learning that is the basis for success in and out of the classroom.
Hampstead Academy is a wonderful place. My son as an incredible love of and excitement for learning. He's thriving academically, but is also developing into a confident, very well rounded young man. The warm, small school environment is enabling him to continue to grow very strong, lifelong relationships with a large group of kind children who show support, kindness and caring for each other. The parents of the children in my son's class are wonderful and thoughtful. The art, music, drama, gym and Spanish programs are also amazing. I can't say enough good things about this school and the community it fosters, and I highly recommend it.
If your child gets in trouble once say goodbye to HA. Also the tuition prices keep on growing. The kids can be snobs and the parents are worse. HA is the same as any good public school and have average test score. Do not send your kid here.
Hampstead Academy is a fantastic school with excellent teachers, a wonderful and diverse curriculum and very friendly student body. The art, drama, spanish and science programs are world class. My daughter can't wait to get out of bed in the morning and get to school in the morning. I strongly recommend this program for parents who want to offer the best education availabe for their children
Small class size and attention to detail. They really got to know what made my son enthusiastic and they worked well with his personality traits. Individual attention is tailored to your child and that is a super plus to me.
The teachers my child has had to this point are wonderful. I could not ask for more. They have given my child a true love of learning and quest for knowledge.
As a parent of a child who attended HA and transferred to another private school in MA, I am glad we made the move. The small ratio and nice teachers are a plus at HA and beats the public schools in nh, but this is also found in most other private schools. A positive parent culture (very one-up atmosphere) and warm, friendly leadership is lacking at HA. While HA teachers know individual children well with the small ratio, I didn't see any evidence of teaching to an individual child at HA in the class..in fact the whole class learned the same content and read/wrote with same materials and used the same instructional methods regardless of individual learning style/levels. Overall, its ok if you only have public school as a choice and you want a smaller classroom environment, but I would shop around to different private school options if possible.
If you like spending money for the same education you can get at a GOOD pulic school then Hampstead is the place for you. Depending on how many teacher they let go this year will make the difference if I stay or leave. Music is getting MUCH better and one-on-one math time should be increased.
I am extremely pleased with many things, among them being the sense of community, the dedication to each student's well-being, the teachers' openness and accessibility, the level of integration within the curriculum.
I loved! this school. i a recently graduated and I miss it so much! It really is a great big family.
This nurturing atmosphere sets the stage not only for optimal learning to occur but also growth in peer relationships, self-awareness and self-confidence for all who attend the school.
Too over protective. The teachers are a bit too strict & the education is less than average. The public schools are better. Hampstead keeps growing the cost.
'Educating the Whole Child' is what makes hampstead academy a great school. The teachers address the needs and talents of each child by offering drama, music, sports, art, chinese, latin, spanish, ... but the emphasis on math and science is what has impressed me most of all. Each class in involved with a community service project and my child learned how to knit hats for children in a local shelter. The graduates are accepted into the schools of their choice. What a wonderful place to grow up.
Love the Drama and Music programs. Several years ago, the school offered Chinese and my son is enjoying it very much. He also takes Latin and Spanish. Many after school sports programs are being offered now including baseball, softball, cross country, basketball, golf, swimming and skiing. The school works to develop the whole child.
Hampstead Academy has been the best experience for my two children. The drama, music and art programs are exceptional. In comparison to other private schools, Hampstead Academy's tuition is affordable.
