Weston is a great school, I worked here in the afternoons as the site director for the YMCA after school program. The principal was very accommodating, the music and gym teachers are also very accommodating. These teachers put a lot of time and effort into the quality of the school. There is always a function going on at the school too whether it is basketball, open houses or the phenomenal talent show they do every year. I would send a child to this school!
I am a 4th grade student at Weston and this school has been a bad experience for me. The library has almost no books that i want because every kid renews them over and over and over again! Talk about crazy! The lunch is horrible. I mean horrible. I can't belive that kids can eat this junk. The teachers are quite average. My teacher Mr.Menswar makes learing just easy enough for everyone. They also have events such as Bingo night. THEY ALWAYS PICK PEOPLE THAT HAVE A MILLION TICKETS! I think this school is bad and for starters it could be an cheap option but like i said this school is bad.
When I moved into the neighborhood in 1997, Weston had a great reputation. I attended PTO when my child started in 2003 and the parental involvement was high and there was general satisfication with the school. Then a couple of large multi-family housing complexes were built and completely change the school's demographics. Parental involvement went from high to very low. The rental housing was tax negative and came out of the school budget. We ended up moving in 2011 because the quality of education had dropped so dramatically.
This fall my husband and I will have three children attending Weston, and we love it! Our two oldest have been there for a few years and love school, and I have high hopes for our youngest who will be in kindergarten. We have always found the staff to be caring and helpful and kind. I agree with many of the other reviews that say the parent involvement is high. The events at Weston are always very heavily attended, and you really get a community feeling in the school. We are glad that our children are enjoying such a positive environment every day, and we are proud of their achievements.
The teachers at Weston do a phenomenal job. There is very heavy parent involvement; one never enters that building without being greeted at the desk by a parent volunteer, or seeing parents at the copier etc. They have always been noted for having a strong parent group. It's a great school.
Our son has attended Weston since first grade this year will be his last year. The staff at Weston go above and beyond! For our son every teacher has been the best and every year we think no one could be better. The parent support throughout the school is felt widely throughout the many events the school holds and the participation from families. It will be very hard to leave Weston this year and we can only hope that the teachers whom our son and daughter come into contact over the years can bring the same care and compassion for their teaching as the teachers and staff at Weston have done! Thank you Weston for all that you are and have done for our family!
Though I'm not very impressed with the Manchester school system in general, I must say that Weston is a rare exception. I have three children at Weston and child number 4 is about to enter in the fall. The school is well rounded, the teachers are caring and the curriculum is challenging but fun for the kids. This year the entire school has been working on a poetry unit and the results were fantastic. Even the kindergarteners were able to write and appreciate simple poems. Ms. LaCascia is the best phys ed teacher I've ever seen.
My daughter attended Weston for grades K-2. We LOVED Weston. I was impressed by small class size, great art, phys ed, and music teachers, and the quality of each teacher we'ved worked with. We were sad to move out of the district!
This will be our third year at Weston and we are quite impressed. We actually pulled our boys out of Catholic Schools to enroll them at Weston. Our expectations were quite high. The teachers are always willing to work with you and are very interested in your participation. The school has many varied programs in art, music and phys. ed. They also have a strong PTA. If your willing to do your part, they are willing to do theirs. The YMCA offers after school care and last year they began a few after school 'clubs' that run about an hour. We are very pleased with Weston.
The first 2 years my son was in this school it was hard to like it, do to the way they went about helping the kids that [have] need special needs. It seems to be doing better but I think they need more help in this area. Also they need to offer more after school programs for these children.
