The information on great schools is not current! The 2010-2011 school year is the second year in which Mason has been SAU89, serving students in grades K-5. During middle school and high school, our students attend Milford. Mason is not part of Mascenic Regional. It would suffice to say Mason Elementary is a hidden gem! The teachers are passionate about their work. The smaller class size allows children to receive attention & be challenged, and communication is easy. All school staff, not just primary teachers, are recognized for their important roles. Our students curriculum is enhanced with specials that include music, French, art, PE, and computer lab. Let's not forget food services- real homemade food is offered. Plus, kids have outdoor recess at a beautiful playground. This year we have a drama club to include actors and artists. Mason is not large enough to support its own sports teams, but parents can easily access sports through neighboring towns. If you are considering a move to or within NH, don't overlook this great town with a great school that is continuing to grow and improve.
I have two students enrolled in Mason Elementary School. The school has been a positive place for both of them. My oldest child attended Milford Elementary before coming to Mason and she prefers Mason over the larger school experience she had in Milford. my youngest has only attended in Mason, and his class is one of the largets in Mason history. Many people believe that as a small school, Mason is lacking in resources. This simply isn't true. The quality of education my children are getting is second to none, and they have ACTUAL math, not that 'new match' that other schools are teaching. I can actually help my kids with their hoework again, I highly reccomend Mason Elementary School to any parent that wants their child to have a strong education.
The size of this school tends to give the wrong impression, in regards to quality or resources. This school is not lacking for either and is fantastic for the typical student. The staff is professional, and the teachers really care about each child. Simple enough since a classroom is often as small as 10 pupils and a strong sense of community is present. Furthermore, this school also has specialist available for speech, occupational, and socialization assistance. The principal is an interesting man who is really involved and seems knowledgeable. The negatives involved here, are the lack of enrichment programs, and the availability to challenge students who may be advanced in any given subject. Also, there isn t a kindergarten available unless you pay for the substandard one that is local and lacking. Having lived in multiple states before New Hampshire, this is a problem state wide. A huge disservice to any child who s parents care to start their child with the best available beginning in their education. Overall, a very good school that is only lacking one or two elements to make it a really great school.
I went to this school and it was one of the most memorable places of my life. Even though I was so young, I remember it because it impacted my life that much.
The personal committment of the Mason Elementary teachers is incredible.
