MES Heron Pond has been outstanding for our daughter, now in third grade. She has flourished in both second and third grades. The school offers an enrichment program (talent pool) for kids needing extra challenges in math and reading/writing, which has very much benefitted our daughter. The staff maintains a disciplined but loving environment. Although the school is large (and soon to be larger with the addition of 5th grade, set to move to Heron Pond for the 2006-07 school year), the different grade areas are well defined and maintained and the school doesn't 'feel' large. Music, art and gym are part of the core curriculum which is important to our family, yet the basics of reading, writing and math are not compromised. The Everyday math program has been a great learning tool for our daughter. Teachers are busy yet approachable and caring. There is also a very active PTO.
