There are kids from many different backgrounds and socioeconomic backgrounds. The population is very diverse, and the kids are learning to adapt. This can only help prepare them for the real world.

We have had children in Richards School for the last six years, and our experience has been nothing but positive. We have the means to put them in the Montessori School and Mount Royal, but as a family we firmly believe in a good public education. Richards School has not let us down. From kindergarten through fourth grade, the teachers have been really wonderful and engaging with our kids and with us. Our son has been challenged and pushed to excel. Our daughter has been taught techniques to deal with distractions in a positive way. In addition, we have had nothing but positive experiences when it comes to working with administration. Our 504 plan coordinator does a great job, and the school nurse is simply amazing. Ms. Schroeter has been a fantastic addition to the team, and we look forward to seeing what she and Mr. Banios can accomplish next year.

It's part of the overall philosophy. The teachers demonstrate it and they do spirit weeks focused completely on it and even have presentations.

Richards is a great school but unfortunately gets a bad reputation simply because of the substance use that is in the town, news flash that happens in busier more populated areas. Anywho, my daughter is doing great. I was very worried because she came from the Montessori school and initally was concerned that she would not get as good of an education. She is reading at 5 and can do addition and subtraction comparable to some of the "9" school districts. I strongly believe that with the new adminstation specifically Gallagher who is invested in this district as her children attend and Sue Schroeter the new Ast Principle at Richards who has a long time investment in Sullivan County. Don't buy into the hype or the negativity overall the school is great!
