Theresa Sires, Graphics Instructor at Kennett High School in North Conway, NH was instrumental in assisting our daughter in pursing her passion and becoming a welcomed new student during a challenging time, High School.
Mrs. Sires met our daughter, Isabella, during the spring Open House held for incoming freshman and their families. She noted that we were moving from a busy Massachusetts town to rural New Hampshire without knowing any other students or families. During the Open House, Isabella shared with Mrs. Sires that she had previous broadcasting experience from participating in an extracurricular program. With that information, Mrs. Sires fought for Isabella to become the first freshman on the "senior exclusive" Kennett High School Morning News. This coveted position allowed Isabella to be in front of the entire student body and faculty each morning on the in-house television broadcast and become a recognized face among a sea of strangers. Isabella was warmly welcomed which allowed her to become more confident and active in her school's student body. In Isabella's junior year, Mrs. Sires encouraged Isabella to try something completely new and compete in a SkillsUSA competition for Television Video Production. This resulted in Isabella winning first place Gold, for New Hampshire that year and again in her senior year.
So naturally, it is with extreme gratitude that we thank Theresa Sires for understanding the needs of a new student and encouraging her dream. Theresa paved the way for Isabella to continue developing her passion for broadcasting which has led her to a decision to pursue a major in Communications next year at a highly respected college. Isabella was recently named a 2016 Communications Fellow based on her high school experience.
Isabella's life has been forever changed by the help of a dedicated teacher who looks into the hearts and minds of those she mentors.
Anyone checking these reviews should take in to account two things; firstly, there are both positive and negative feedback given for the Kennett MIDDLE school! Completely irrelevant to the ratings given, with the additional fact that numerous children from other middle schools within the district will attend the high school as well. The second part is that the Kennett High School has been relocated to a completely NEW school built recently in 2007 rendering reviews such as the one mentioning poor ventilation to be a thing of the past. The new facilities of the HIGH SCHOOL (not middle) include an extensive security camera system of the hallways, cafeteria, and parking lot to help discourage bullying and if an act does happen to occur, this event can be recalled upon using the feed and proper reprimand can be given. There is also at least one police officer on site always. Overall, anyone complaining of academic issues should be held accountable for their own grades considering the Kennett Staff provides ample teaching, material, and out of class support to those who want to succeed. How you go about your high school career relies solely on how YOU wish to hold your own head.
If one looks atr the reviews they are mostly from students. I thought this was a parential review. One names a teacher . The school is lacking as test scores are dropping. The teachers state they are overwhelmed by their workload. They never get back to parents whom are concerned , even after promising to do so. Students are being railroaded from school into the courts. If a student skips class the courts are used to put a child on probation. In my day we recieved detention. I find labelling is extensive from JH thru HS. I am not happy with the Conway school and have raised Grandchildren whom attended Conway schools.
I attended the school prior to it moving to its current location in North Conway. I had a wonderful experience and I had great teachers and mentors, especially in the foreign languages and math departments.
I am a student at Kennett High and i love the school. The teachers challenge us. I love my teachers this year. They are very supportive and give you help when you need it. We are also number 1 in the state! There is very little i dont like about the school.
Kennett is a wonderful school with many motivated, caring and helpful teachers. With a new facility on the way, the respect and pride of the students and faculty has greatly improved over the last year. Opportunities outside of the classroom are abundant for those looking for activities. The teachers truly care about the students.
I enjoyed my experience at Kennett High School. While, it has its problems I think that overall it prepared my for college. I think that Kennett is a work in progress and that the brand new school will definitely raise moral amongst students, faculty and parents.
