No textbooks. Seriously? How will a child learn long term, if they have nothing outside of their 30 min. class to learn from? If training your child to learn how to suffer from ADD is your goal for them, then this is the school to go to. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with this school. It breaks my heart I am not poor to be able to take advantage of the pathetic excuse of a voucher program, to get my son the hell out of this tax money sink hole. Despite working a full time job and taking night classes at college, I have to seriously look into home schooling as an option as sending my son to this school is a state run glorified babysitting program, not an educational experiance.
SMS provides a diverse and dynamic school environment. Our children (although very different) have been supported and engaged both in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. We couldn't be happier with the staff. The office staff in particular, are warm and friendly and know every child's name. I am impressed!
The 'half hour' of homework my child receives takes all of 5 - 10 minutes if he hadn't finished it already before getting on the bus to go home. It it typically math, and the policy is a half hour homework divided among the classes, so that means mostly math homework.
