In response to the review posted on July 28th, I do apologize again for the apparent disorganization of the school. I am also very sorry that you feel as if the school is full of 'hypocritical' people. I do invite you to call the school. Please ask for Derek Tremblay, Headmaster Elect. As a classical school, we believe that instruction and content must be delivered in an age-appropriate manner. Students in grades 1-6 do not use technology therefore in the classroom. Teachers use technology to supplement lessons, but we think students need a solid academic foundations first. However, students in grades 7-12 do use technology in the classroom. Our staff is equipped to help students use various tools in order to both learn and illustrate their own knowledge (Google drive, Quizlet, EdPuzzle to name a few). We do have a technology policy that is based on appropriate use, and high school aged students are invited to use their own devices in school, so long as a faculty member grants them permission for academic use. And lastly, I myself have written at least 1 other review, and the previous Headmaster did write review. I can tell you that teachers were never told to write reviews
Very disorganized school full of very judgemental and hypocritical people. There are some very questionable moral standards. If you are in the "in" group, your children will be okay. Otherwise, expect very little. Technology is absent in this school. I love teaching values and morals to my children, but releasing students into a world unprepared technologically is ridiculous. I've read most the reviews on this site and it is evident that most are written by staff members.
This is a simply outstanding school community with a strong emphasis on authentic Catholic teaching and on supporting parents as primary educators. They allow children to work to their ability instead of requiring them to work at the same pace as their peers...for example, students in Kindergarten can work at a 1st grade reading / math level if they have advanced beyond the others...but kids who are struggling in any given area can get individual attention given small class sizes. They also open their doors to homeschooling parents to allow their kids to take any class they need - music, science, art (where labs / supplies can get expensive and cooperation is key). Truly a hidden gem!
Greatest school ever! My daughter loves it and so don't I. The teacher's genuinely care about their students and take the time to make sure each one succeeds. The staff is amazing and the Headmaster is the nicest person ever!
Disorganized, constantly changing dates at the last minute. Populated by the multitude of teachers' children. Quality of work brought home by my children as well as items sent home written by teachers full of spelling and grammatical errors has made me cringe the last couple of years. Time to move on.
Our family moved to the area 4 years ago so that our kids could attend what we truly believe (after researching many) is the best Catholic school in the state of NH. We love the classical curriculum at MRA, and the authentic Catholic culture. Our kids have a quality education and are encouraged to stretch their minds every day. They are truly growing in all aspects of their being: intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual. We are so thankful for all Mount Royal has given us!
Love it! Great academics in a great environment! My husband and I could not be happier with the quality of the education at Mount Royal. It is worth every penny.
I have been working as the Headmaster at Mount Royal for the past three years. It truly is a beautiful school. Our enrollment has grown by 126% and we have just completed construction on the St. Joseph's Center which includes a new gym, science and computer labs, and a lunchroom. Also, construction on another brand new classroom building will begin in April. The curriculum is rigorous but students get the attention they need in a loving environment. IT is the only school I've worked at where the students don't want to go home at the end of the day! God Bless. David Thibault Headmaster
My child started attending Mount Royal last year. We were so pleased at the extra attention given, that we decided to send our daughter again this year. Each day she is driven and supported to do her very best. After all children reach to meet the expectations that are set for them.
The best possible environment for growing 3 and 4 year old minds. Very educational yet a fun place for young children.
pathetic. Not a school at all, but an attempt by rich trustees to soothe their weak sense of value.
I am currently attending Mount Royal Acadeny and have been for 5 years now. I find this school a great place to establish news friendships; learn at a high, challenging leval; and help make good decisions for the furture. There have been in the past and are now many great men and women on the faculty and staff here, who are always willing to encourge and push you to try new things. The school really has an atmosphere of a home and it is very comforting to know that there are people who care about how you are doing not just in your school work but also on a personal leval. Now I'm not saying that this school is perfect but I am saying that I would definately recommend it to anyone who is seaching for a great place to shape the minds of their children in the truth.
Mount Royal Academy is an awesome school! I've attended the school for 3 years and plan to graduate in the spring of 2009. MRA has a great atmosphere. The teachers are great role models and the student body has a lot of great leaders. It is almost like a family. The curriculum, although challenging, is fun (most of the time :-) ) and a lot of the discussions include topics that apply to your life. Overall MRA really builds you as a person. Over the past 3 years I have learned a lot, become more confident, and feel more prepared to go out on my own. Every school has its problems and its ups and downs, but overall MRA is a great school that I would reccommend to anyone who is looking for a good education and positive atmosphere.
I'm a teacher returning for a second year. I love the administration, the students and the parents. We're growing as a school, and its full of promise. The kids that have been here from the beginning are really smart and well-formed kids. All of the eigth graders tested with college-level reading skills. That is real progress and a good school.
I have had children in this school for 5 years now and I couldn't be happier with the education and moral development my daughters receive each day. They are both superlative readers with excellent comprehension and can do math in their heads! A lost art form! The students at MRA are such nice kids. The older students mentor the younger children in many ways - working on projects together and having 'reading buddies'. There is also an excellent outreach program which gets the students involved in helping charitable organizations outside of school. One of my favorite activities are holiday lunches the students organize at a senior center in the area. The students cook, decorate and serve food to the older residents - what a nice event crossing generations! Oh, and the school uniforms are divine - cute, easy to clean and never a debate about what to wear!
Mt. Royal is actually a place full of gossip, and very small closed minds. Nothing ever gets done right. There is no character education here, just bickering and infighting.
We sent our children to Mount Royal for a number of years, inspired by a number of dedicated and devoted teachers. The teachers came and went, based on the whims of of whoever was in charge at any given point. When great elementary and high teachers left in the same year my husband and I called it quits. We'd had enough of the politics and the games. We were sick and tired of all the posturing and self-righteousness the school had become. This is not a good place, unfortunately.
I am a high school alumni of Mount Royal Academy. Mount Royal is excellent school that instills a sense of principled leadership, hardwork, and development of the whole person. I profited very much from my experience there as it enabled me to successfully prepare for college. Currently I attend the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, on a full four year Army ROTC scholarship. Much of this I attribute to the excellent education provided, an experienced and dedicated faculty, athletic sports, and extra curricular activities. The environment at Mount Royal allowed and helped me grow as a person, leader, and Christian. I highly recommend the high school education opportunity at Mount Royal and would be happy to answer any prospective students or parents questions.
What a wonderful idea--a small, independent, Catholic school, based upon a classical model of education. What a shame--it is a truly good idea gone wrong. Headmaster and teachers are great. Just be wary of the Board of Trustees. Stay clear at all cost, if you can!
