I agree with all the other comments here... this is a wonderful school in a pleasant location. After a ghastly stint at a nearby Catholic school, our child blossomed thanks to AHES, and ended up studying Physics at one of the greatest schools in the world, (Carnegie Mellon University)!
I have raised two children in this town and both attended this school, my youngest will graduate from AHES in just a few weeks and I am so sad to say good bye. Administration and leadership are outstanding! and I can not say enough about our dedicated teachers who have created such a safe, caring, and creative learning environment Although I know no other school will live up to this one, I am very grateful my children had such a fantastic educational foundation. This little elementary school has certainly raised the bar. I am in agreement with the description: private school experience with a public school education.
If you are looking for a 'private school' but want a public education then Atlantic Highlands Elementary School is your best choice. Class room sizes are very small, a very caring and comitted staff. A school board that is very interested in the well fare of the school and town. Where many schools are having to do away with art, music and gym this school strives to keep it. AHES has a media center, library that generates 1000 books a month and a science lab that children get a hands on experience. You and your family will be very happy in this quiet little community school. Parent
Nice, clean, traditional school, with good teachers and a friendly atmosphere.
Both of our children attended AHES and generally had very positive experiences. School teachers should be encouraged, however, to be more creative in the classroom and also in taking advantage of our great location for field trips. All things considered, we were very pleased with the quality education our children received at AHES.
Great school, low teacher to student ratio, very good administration
