First let me say that the Principal of this school is very pleasant to deal with I was however appalled by the lack of personality some of the teachers have at this school. I tried desperately to have my child sent to the Avenel Street School but based on our location he was assigned to Woodbine. I was turned off by one of the teachers as you could tell it was just a job to her. She boasted that she had been a teacher for over 10 years but the means NOTHING when you could care less about your students. She knew my son for only two weeks when she suggested he wasn t ready for that particular grade. When I advised her that not all children have the same learning style she basically said I have 25 kids what can I tell you. It should be mandatory for all teachers to take a course in learning styles and incorporate them into the classroom. I will say if the parents don t care why would the teachers? I was the ONLY parent at the back to school night asking questions about what was being taught. I looked like the crazy parent because I wanted to know what my child would learn and the teachers teaching style. I removed my son and he now attends a private school. He is excelling! It is a shame that you have to PAY in order for TEACHERS to give a darn.
