Oh gosh.. where do I start? First, the lunch. The lunch smells HORRIBLE! It's all frozen and unhealthy. Next, the gym floor is FILTHY! Since they added lunch stations for hot and cold food, there's less space in the cafeteria. So, they added lunch tables in the gym. There's crumbs everywhere! (Plus they use a dirty rag to clean tables so it's disgusting). So, once gym class starts and we're doing push ups, sit ups, etc, we're basically covered in crumbs. Plus the walls smell horrible, like a dirty bathroom.. There's also cockroaches and centipedes on the walls..nice. Another thing to mention is that we have around 24 minutes for lunch. That's barely any time. We don't even go outside for recess. In conclusion, this school is horrible. Pretty sure the only reason why I have horrible anxiety is because of this school.

We love Roy Brown MS. The teachers are excellent. They have wonderful music, athletic, and extracurricular activities. My children have benefited from their years at RWB.

This school has provided my son with a great education. RWB has a middle school sports program that many other towns do not have and they have a great facility. They do offer a reading incentive program at lunch. We need to do everything we can to encourage today's children to read books. The cafeteria as renovated this past summer and extra seating capacity was added to ease the crowding.

This school is not bad. Great teachers and a very nice library. However the administration is rubblish. They are no help what-so-ever. If you ever lose something, they barely care. Not only that, but they have a lost and found bin in room 216. IT'S A COMPLETE MESS! All they do is just throw the things on a desk and shove things in a shelf. As for the cafeteria.. it's horrendous. The room is packed and it is flithy. I feel bad for the custodian. But the timing to eat.. terrible. ONLY 20 MINUTES TO EAT AND 20 MINUTES TO READ OR DO MATH. How dumb. If you're coming to this school i'd suggest finding another

This school is fine for learning and the teachers (well, most of them) that I have had are great. However: The administration is TERRIBLE - they are all RUDE, and none of them are afraid to yell at the students. And - WHAT is up with lunch!? 20 minutes to eat and then 20 minutes to READ? That is insanity - I can't wait for high school.

Out of all the Bergenfield schools, I performed the best academically in this middle school. The whole school district has a prestigious music department. Academically, it's not a bad school as some may say since many students here were accepted to Bergen Academies which is one of the top 10 high schools in the entire country. My teachers were always on top with the student's schoolwork. Most of the complaints coming from parents and students is the administration, which really needs to improve since this has always been a huge ongoing issue. The only trouble I've had was arriving school 5 minutes late and getting detention for it, which I thought was unfair. But I can understand that some of the students are a nuisance. The facilities need renovation and possibly fund for some extensions.

My child started here in September. I was concerned because of what I've heard, but..the work is challenging, she loves her classes, loves her teachers, and has been getting all As. According to her, the only problem is that the halls are very crowded between classes, but what are you going to do? She gets to class on time. I go to PA meetings and there are 10 parents there, in a school with 900 kids. that is so bizarre to me. Kids are friendly, teachers are accessible and GREAT at posting grades in a timely manner to Infinite Campus. Very pleasantly surprised with RWB.

THIS SCHOOL IS OKAY. The teachers, students are okay. But the administrarive office is horrible. If you get in triuble, you are never proven innocent. They don't get much witnesses. They just get the people who are invovled with it.The only thing that i like is the music department. It has great teachers and nice equipment. Even I'm in it and half the school is in it too. We also have interesting instruments the athor districts don't have such as the Barisax. Also the renovated the school a bit. The bathromms are new.

This school has some very nice teachers in most classes. Unfortunately the administration in this school is terrible and the guidance office is completely useless. Also very dirty. The cafeteria is ok but the food is complete trash and some of the staff is quite rude. If you get anything stolen in this place then don't expect to have these people even try to investigate it. A lot of the students are rude and lack manners but the school doesn't seem to care. They also have security cameras in the halls but when trouble occurs in the halls they don't bother to look at the recordings. I hated this place but thankfully it had some great teachers.

I am a former Roy W. Brown Student going into 8th grade in September. Honestly I have to Admit that the school should be renovated. Their are cockroaches crawling on the stair cases, ants in the hallways, EVEN Termites in the band room which were apparently "exterminated" during spring break. The Music Department is strong, clubs are also there but more students need to be active in school. As far as sports go more kids need to participate either in gym or joining the team. The staff is fine, but teachers in RWB need to come up with more creative ways to teach students the work. The Hallways are VERY crowded, meaning your shoulder to shoulder with strangers dragging your way across trying to get up the stairs. The new wing that has been upgraded should have an elevator so students with needs or injuries can get their safely. The cafeteria is fine, but the food is cold and tastes like puke. The 2 gyms are fine but should be cleaned more than once a year. The bathrooms so BAD. they have words written all over paint peeling off, dirty floors and toilets. The students are very mean to each other and to staff. And guidance does nothing. If your planning to come to Rwb, DONT! - student

I am a former student of Roy W. Brown, and I absolutely disliked my experience. The school has a great music program, quite a few excellent teachers, a wonderful foreign language program, and so many interesting clubs. You, the reader, might wonder "Why would the author of this comment be so unhappy with a school that offers such great opportunities?" The answer is simple. Terrible administration. While in middle school, one particular girl who disliked me did everything in her power to make my life miserable, with attacks ranging from verbal insults to hurtful rumors. She would often encourage her friends to join in the act. The administration, however, handled the issue with a slap on the wrist. The girl gave an apology to me in front of the administration. As soon as we left that office, she was back to bullying me. She hurled much crueler insults for getting her into trouble. I've also known friends who had their stuff stolen from them, but the administration did not care to investigate these cases. They would make excuses such as "You shouldn't have had something that expensive on your persons in the first place," or "You just can't accuse a bunch of people of this act."

Roy Brown has more challenges that it seems able to handle. The programs are strong, but the administration is not. Many of the teachers are unengaging and do not challenge the students, let alone seem equipped to handle their individual needs. The school is overcrowded and underbudgeted. The caliber of its students is very concerning. I would strongly caution parents of grammar school aged children before enrolling their child in RWB.

Roy w. brown is a bad school the programs are good and all but the school it self is not. The school rather spend money on an office than the bathrooms or books or ac. I am a student the and i don't really like the school.

Kids here have more fun and learn better because of not just the great teachers but because of the fact that everyone knows everybody. Bergenfield is a very small town where someone always knows someone else. That makes the middle school even better.

The school honestly has some major issues. Overcrowded, lack of desperately-needed janitors, old books, small lockers...the list goes on. The water is filthy.

This school is horrible. From dirty to overcrowded. The kids are out of control and are vicious to each other. No support programs to help the kids deal with peer pressure and many other issues. It has a great music program but unfortunately not all students are interested in music. This school needs some real help. The Principal and Guidance counselors are very good but again its not enough.

To describe Roy W. Brown in one word, it would be bad. it's bad because everything in that school is falling apart. The windows are cracked, the walls are unbearable, the doors creak, everything is old, and if ther is something to be repaired- nothing gets done about it until the following year, if that. The books are very hidious and the school lunches go up every year. The lockers are filthy and are very easy to jump. Most of them don't even close properly. The clubs are fairly oriented and parent involvment is low. To sum it all up. Roy W. Brown so get thier act together and work hard to improve the well - being of that school.

Roy W. Brown Middle School is bad. It is so dirty that there are dust balls in the gym. the lead paint on the walls are pealing. The students have to use 20 years old textbooks binded with tape because they are so old. Even the teachers complain about this and nothing is being done.
