Not a safe place for your kid.School did not notify us when our 1st grader was punched in the face. Also, doesn`t allow for working parents come in and be involved in the class. If you have a first grader who needs help in math they don`t give help for math only reading at this grade level even if requested!

I feel that overall the school does well in the programs academic and otherwise that it offers, however I feel that the PTA does a lot and the administration should be ,more involved with the families and more welcoming when new families come into the school. THey should have a 5th grade graduation to celebrate the accomplishments of students and when a parent wants to go on a school trip with a child it should be done fairly and not only for the people that happen to be fulltime class moms. Some parents work and the school is not sensitive to that.

my daughter has been attending lanes mill school for 4 yrs now and we have experienced nothing but a positive atmosphere-as for the pta I guess i,m not the type of person who waits around for a special invitation i just jump in roll up my sleeves and do what i can to help ensure my children who are in elementry-high school-and special ed get the most profitable positive school experiance as possible I end with a quote: 'average parents follow the crowd, intentional parents pursue the goal.'

My two daughters started 2nd and 4th grades here. I felt the system overall was delayed from NYC and that the girls were doing material that they had done at least 1/2 to 1 1/2 years prior. The school was nice, the program was not. When it was obvious that my daughters were much more advanced than their grade levels, the principal did not allow for testing to move them up, nor did they have accelerated programs to put them in. The only thing offered to them was an enrichment program in which the girls were taken aside for a 1/2 hour once a week along with a few other students to do reading, nothing math related. If one is not a member of the PTA for several years, they don't allow you to beome class parents. Very 'clicky' PTA which didn't allow newer parents to be class parents.
