This school is seriously lacking in academics. I have hired 4 graduates to work for my company and none of them can spell, write a correct sentence, or do simple math (even on a calculator). The students obviously do not learn the skills to go out into the world. How do you write a college essay if you cannot spell and know no grammar?

Burlington City High School is fantastic! The teachers are commited, the classrooms are functional learning enviroments, modern-day learning tools are readily available, there are great computer labs, the library is very up to date, and the curriculum that is offered could bang with every public education system in New Jersey easily. If you are a parent who wants the best for their child, then you should show no hesitation in becoming a Blue Devil mom, dad, guardian, etc. The other comments don't seem to point out a great advantage BCHS has in being a group 1 school: the student to faculty ratio. The music program is also very noteworthy as other reviews have indicated but please do not overlook the consistency of the athletic program. Student athletes with great character are not uncommon at all! Plus, facilities are immaculant, especially the weight room. The pros outweigh the cons at City.

I am a recent graduate of BCHS& as far as the other alums are speaking I have no clue where they went to high school but it is not the same place as myself. In high school i took AP and honors courses& had more then 13 extracurriculars, most of which consisted of musical programs. I am now a well rounded college student who has been on the dean's list every semester and currently hold a 3.9 GPA. BCHS has its faults as does any other high school but the truth of the matter is if students want to do well they will& the teachers will be more than willing to help. The biggest problem is the fact that there are people like the ones leaving negative comments refusing to take responsibility for their own actions as well as their kids.

I am a person who worked in this school and seen both the compassionate & rude teachers it holds! I do believe in change but I also believe you must embrace change to move forward! If this school does not hire 'Freedom Writer' style of teachers who have passion and don't quit or exchange ugly for ugly we are going to loose these children who hold so much promise! Take the time to reach first, change your mentality & communicate positvely teachers and you'll be effective again! Good luck Teachers/Parents don't quit!!!

My junior daughter takes AP courses, plays two varsity sports and scored highly on the SATs. I have no worries about her in college. My 7th grade son has trouble due to his current immaturity. The school expects a lot and has a tendency to write off poor achievers, so it's our job to help him. Fine. Of course we should. Both kids are in the award-winning music program, where a culture of hard work/rewards, dedication and parental involvement thrives.

I was a former student and now a parent to an 11th grade student. School have not change over the last 20 years, still the same. Classes are dull and teachers don't care. The only thing going for the school is the Matching Band with Director David May. Stay away from this school or prepare to play catch up in College.

I see the average rating for this school is a 3 to 4. Wow that's a bit high. I was a former student and now a parent of a child in the highschool. I have friends and family in the highschool throughout the last 15 years.....nothing have change.....teachers don't care and leadership from upper managerment are poor to disgraced. The only thing going for this highschool and it have been for the last 20 years or so is the Matching Band. I wouldn't be where I am today without the help and support of the Band and its memebers. Thanks Mr. Bear and Mr. May. I would rate this HighSchool now compare to others in the County the wrost 5 in the county. In fact, I am moving to another town just to get away from this school systems. I had to played 'catch up' in college.

Much better school than statistics show. Competitive extra curricular activities and a wide range of classes offered compared to other group 1 schools.

I attended Burlington City HS and my twin brothers are currently attending. I did well and so are my brothers. I am now a teacher in the district and think that is is wonderful. It is all about the effort you put into it. If your child wants to learn, he or she will learn.

My son graduated from BCHS last year. If it wasn't for the music program I don't know where he would be. He struggles in college because of his poor high school education. Most of the teachers don't care about the students and give a good grade if the student show's up and hands in the work. There are a lot of disruptions during class and there is no disipline. One of the worst schools in Burlington County.
