Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Worst school I've ever had to deal with. My son was a special needs child and they treated him horribly. He was bullied by other kids, they ganged up on him and they blamed him. Three kids against one?! Come on! He learned NOTHING! I'd never recommend this school to anyone!

Bernice Young has the best teachers and they gave my 2 children a wonderful education during the time they were there. If it wasn't for the best special education teacher I have ever known, Ms. Baker, my daughter with Autism would have gone out if district at 3 years old. Instead she spent 4 years in district. They treated her absolutely wonderful and the superintendent and principal knew he by name. Dr. Manno was the most personable superintendent and took a great interest in all his students in twp. As a profession who has spent 13 years in special education, I have never seen a better district in all areas.

My 2 kids attend this school and we love it. We have never had any issues with this school. The principal and teachers are great. My kids teachers are truly engaged and know my kids on individual basis. Parents are highly encouraged to stay involved in our kids education. This is a lovely school. I have no regrets.

I would love to know how a school district can go from having all schools rated at 6 and above, get a new superintendent, then go down to a great school rating of 4, and have the superintendent get state superintendent of the year! Shouldn't he have improved the schools. I know that we chose to send our children to private because of Dr. Manno, Mr. Gerski and the board of Ed. They refused to drop our child at child are, which was on his way home. I was actually told by them to leave work, pick him up at school, drop him off at daycare, and drive the 40 miles back to work. As a teacher myself, what should I have done? So, instead, they now reimburse us to transport our children to private school. And what happened as a result of our emails, phone class and plea to the board? The super got an unprecedented 5 year contract. Nothing like stabbing your parents in the back to boost yourself up. The schools in the township are a disgrace to the taxpayers. The use of connected math and everday math would have made me pull my child out at the 3rd grade level anyways, even without the mess. If the schools will not stand up for a child, then what use is the school.

This is the most wonderful school! Not only is it beautiful and spotless, but the teachers, principals, and staff are amazing! Safety, and school security is top notch! The programs that they offer are wonderful, and my daughter has had the best experience. I have 3 kids in this district in Elementary, Middle, and high school. Every moment, every teacher was wonderful and went above and beyond for my kids and many others that I know. My 8 year old is going to the next school in the district, Fountain Woods. We are sad to leave Bernice Young but excited to see what the future holds! I highly reccomend this wonderful community, the schools, and especially the teachers!

Absolutely horrible. I have a special needs child and the Director of Special Services is completely hostile, bitter, and unprofessional. Her focus is not the students, but rather the staff. The case management is also horrible. The preschool special ed teacher is great, but she is surrounded by regular educators who are not trained to have special ed kids included. Paraprofessionals are untrained and unsupervised.

Our oldest daughter attended B.Bernice Young School from pre-k through 2nd grade and I can't wait until September so my son can have the same wonderful learning experience and success as my daughter (4th grader). The teachers and staff not only encourage their students but also support their parents.

Everyone at B. Bernice Young School is so friendly and helpful. Our granddaughter loves going to school there. The school has a friendly, safe, and fun learning environment. Having been a teacher for over 30 years - not at Young School - I can see that it is a community of caring adults and wonderful children.

The teachers and staff get to really know these kids not only by their face , but on a first name basis. That's not easy to do with a school of pre-k through second. The entire staff make these children feel extremely special with the smiley program. When a student has done something kind, considerate, and/ or 'just the right thing' they are awarded with a paper smiley face. The child is then to take it home and decorate it to bring back to school and hang proudly on the walls. This helps promote confidience and manners that will carry on with them FOREVER!!! This is what makes our school the best and I am also a proud parent of three children that have gone to B. Bernice Youn School.

I have had two children who have been very blessed by the staff and teachers at Berniece Young School. So often times only those children who act up get attention, in Young school they do a great job of rewarding those students who show kindness to others.

My son loves B. Bernice Young school. He attends there currently as a kindergarten student. I am very happy with the education that he recieves there. He came to B. Bernice Elementary in Jan. He transferred from another school and I have seen a huge improvement with his learning. I am very happy with the staff there. When I need to speak to someone I can mention my sons' name and they automatically know who I am talking about. The staff there are very personable, kind, and you know they go out of their way to help you with anything you need assistance with.

Our boy will continue to get the best schooling available for his special needs. My wife and I are blessed to have the help of every single person in the school, including the busing staff. Thank you so much.

My son has done very well at this school. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and really caring. His teacher has been great. My only complaint would be that he has a very large class size - however his teacher has found very effective ways to still give one on one time to each student.

As a mom of a child with special needs I have experienced firsthand how teachers, therapists and school administrators at B. Young ES support all students. They are dedicated to creating an inclusive community; one that highlights everyone's special talents. The second you enter the school you get a sense that everyone, from the principal to the secretary, is there to improve the lives of the students. I am impressed with their child study team, special education teachers, and therapists. They have made a significant difference in my daughter's life.

B. Bernice Young School has been a vital school in this district for many years. As more and more students enrolled, the school made changes both inside (adding on) and outside (more playground space). I can't say enough about our hard working teachers and support staff our caring parents and are most energetic SFA. I feel so very fortunate to work here and I am so proud to call myself a staff member here.
