My daughter recently finished 2nd grade here (her first year at Milton) - she was inconsolable on her last day. LOVES Milton. Her teacher was more than excellent - everything you would want in a teacher and more. Smart, driven, so encouraging to the kids - fun, but strict at the same time. The kids loved her and my daughter blossomed. I have never heard one parent say a bad thing about Milton. Nice parents, nice kids, nice feel in this excellent school.

Being part of the Milton community for the past eight years has been a joy. This is a small school with an active PTO where the parents have many opportunities to volunteer. There are smart boards in each class room, a technology classroom and net books are used in the classroom. The students enjoy a volunteer-lead art program and many PTO-run activities. After-school enrichment classesare offered for those who want to sign up for them. The teachers are wonderful, accomplished and caring and pursue their own continuing education. I would recommend any Milton teacher with the exception of one first grade teacher which is unfortunate.

Great school if your child has special learning needs. They will have extra teachers help your child in kindergarten and give these kids a whole day of school. All the other kindergarteners have half a day. If you kid is above average or bright, she/he will not be challenged here. They do not do any differentiation in the classroom and the principal is just okay.

Milton was the perfect introduction to elementary school education in this country for my daughter, who was born in Germany. It's lovely layout and grounds make it idyllic for any child. But what sets it apart are the teachers and curriculum. I can honestly say that every teacher my daughter had, grades 1-3, was outstanding in their level of caring, professionalism, attitude, and abilities. Each teacher my daughter had was absolutely perfect for her grade. Milton also has excellent after-school activities. It is a shame more children can't enjoy this kind of enrichment in their lives.

Milton is the sort of school you wish every child had the opportunity to attend. It continues to be one of the top schools in the state, and in my opinion is that it is right in-line with the many private schools in the area. Parents can be a bit 'clique-y', and ethnic diversity is lacking, but that can happen anywhere. That said, I am still pleased with the progress I see in my children and highly recommend Milton to anyone considering a move to Chatham, NJ.

Milton is the kind of 'postcard' dream school you'd want your children to be part of. The idyllic setting, wonderful caring teachers, excellent curriculum and academic standards, distinguishes Milton from the rest. After-school enrichment courses are a plus, as well as the Work-Family Connection program.

We moved here from MA last year. Our daughter was welcomed with open arms by the teaching staff and the very active community of parents. My wife and I could not be more pleased with her first grade teacher as well. Her progress has been excellent and she is constantly challenged. She loves going to the school. The administration does a great job of communicating with the community.

I can only highly recommend Milton Avenue School in Chatham, it has excellent academic program and teachers. PTO organization doing great job and parents are more than welcome to join in any way, and they are. MAS also have very good enrichment program after school which enable students to choose within the various fields of interest that is best for them.
