I have 3 kids in Deptford schools. I really love the district! They are very involved and concerned about our kids. Most of the teachers and school officals have a genuine love for their jobs which is so important when you are involved with children. I really love Mr. Mcdonald and Mr. Adams they are what a great Principle should strive to be!!

My 2 children were well taught at Deptford Schools. They are both in very good colleges and were well prepared for them. The high school is a safe place with many AP, College Prep and other courses for the students if they choose to take advantage of them. My children and their parents are proud to be Deptford Alumni. The Administration, Staff and School Board all care about the students in this town and spend much time preparing them for the future. Deptford is doing a great job in their school system.

The arts are completely unappreciated. The art rooms are way to small for a functional and satisfactory class room. The teachers are split in half. Some are the best teachers in the profession. They have creative and effective ways of teaching and others are lazy and on tenure so they think they can be biased against students and ignore their needs. All in all it's a decent school that offers a lot to the students and it is improving slowly but much more needs to happen before it is one of the best schools around.

The quality of this school continues to depreciate. As previously stated, the school is severely lacking in honors courses, and doesn't challenge some of their brightests students. Many of the teachers are young and classes are instructed by student-teachers. The teaching methods are not best suited for the children. However, the school is superb at providing extracurricular activities with many clubs and great sports teams. Parents are very involved except in academics. Tons of parents show up at football games, but not enough in the guidance offices trying to find out why their children are failing. Every year the school introduces more and more standard courses, and students take them under the fascade that they are being prepared for college. Even the students enrolled in the few honors and advanced placement courses do not compare with the honors students of other schools in standardized testing. Not a great atmosphere for highly-intelligent students.

I have two children who have both graduated from Deptford High School, the school has a lot to offer if children want to take advantage of it. They have great sports programs, my daugther took college prep courses and was prepared for college and is doing really well there. I highly recommend it. I also found the teachers to really care about the students and go out of their way to both help them and protect them.

This school has some good honors programs but lacks in helping students to achieve their full potential. This school has too many general education level classes and not enough college prep. classes.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
