My daughter is graduating from this school next month. Kreps school is an excellent school. The teachers, coaches and administrative staff are excellent. The music program is really good, they put on a great show for the parents. I am very impressed and I'm happy that my daughter was able to have a pleasant middle school experience at Kreps.
Great School overall. Excellent teachers and a very involved principal. My child is in eighth grade. Good experience with teachers and staff so far. They have good programs like gifted and talented , Math Count and advanced programs for science and math.
Pleasant surprise...i was afraid for many negative comments but the school has many good programs and the email interaction between teachers/parents is just the best i've seen
Our child just finished the 7th grade, and our experience to date has been mixed. To be challenged, and surrounded by 'good' students (with multiple meanings of the word 'good' intended) it helps to have your child in the advanced classes; or they can end up just going through the program. We've had some teachers that have been stellar, and others that just haven't been able to connect with the students. It seems essential to have your child involved in activities like Band, to help group them with other students that are 'engaged' and not just coasting through. By surrounding your child with similar students, they have a better chance of excelling. No regrets with our child attending here, but advice is to have them get involved with activities early on, even if they're not initially inclined to do so.
last year was my last year at Drew it is an amazing school with decent expectations. Of the 6 years I have been at that school I have had the most wonderful teachers! I think they could have chosen a better principle for the drew school but that is just my opinion.Overall the drew school is an exeptional place!
The school has a weak Language Arts program and more should be done to help student advance in this area. Also a debate team would be nice to have it will help student advance in high school.
I'm a student at MHK and I think the school is good. I'm in seventh grade and I nkow my way around. It is true that they let good teachers go, but all together, it's a good school
The school let go of some of their best teachers and changed their curriculum. Since the change the school has gone downhill and they no longer teach Grammar. Sad to say its not a very good school.
Melvin H Kreps is a very good school - my older daughter attended it - received a great education and a lot of awards at the end of 8th grade. She applied to and was accepted into the very Prestigious Peddie School. It was a tough process and she got through with ease after all the great job done by the teachers at Kreps. Kudos - Good Job - Keep it up. She also participated in all the school plays, and learned so much throughout her 3 years there. My younger son is there now and LOVES it too!! This is a great school!
I'm not a huge fan of this school. My son is going on to 7th grade this year, however, I felt that the all the teachers did is send homework home. There was project after project in his Reading class, where do you have time to learn if your just doing project after project? Was learning about plays in Reading necessary? Was reading 'The Cay', which most of it was in a different language altogether necessary? There are far better classic stories out there to read instead of trying to grasp a story that was done mostly in an accent where you couldn't understand. My son hated his first experience at a new school, he was just out of elementary but instead of treating them as such it seemed the teachers treated them like the first year of college.
