My children have been at TCA for the last 8 years. I have been very happy with their academic education. Most of the teachers show love and care to the students. They want the students to achieve their very best. The curriculum is well above the public schools and some of the private schools in the area. Yes demerits are given, but my children may have had demerits given to them 3-4 times each in the last 8 years. The demerits help the children learn to be more responsible. My children have not received any demerits for behaving disrespectfully or poor behavior. Perhaps the students that are receiving so many demerits should become more responsible and behave in a proper manner.
I am sorry but I disagree with the parent that complained about the demerits. When a child constantly has to go to their locker in the middle of class, not only do they take time away from the teacher, but also the rest of the children. Demerits are a way to have consequences for behavior that needs to be corrected.
Great school for preschool through fourth. Unfortunately facility for middle school (5-8) is not appropriate (trailers). Have to agree with a previous rater...some teachers are more concerned with giving demerits for such things as missing homework, wrong socks, locker trips, and other minor infractions than on academics. If your child is not very organized and tends not to be a conformist, don't send him here. If you are moderate to liberal on social issues, this isn't the place for you either. You will clash with the culture. Some teachers are very sound and experienced....but others weak in methodology and practice. Opportunities for parental involvement, but again if you will be shut out if they perceive you have different views. High School has four students....a litte too unnatural for me. Again, not a bad school altogether...but not for everybody.
Awesome dedicated teachers, principal, support staff.Rigorous curriculum. Small student body allowing for attention to the individualized student
TCA opened through 12th grade this year. My kids are enrolled in middle and highschool. The curriculum does exceed the public school district. Discipline and being good citizens are qualities the staff work hard to instill. When students are enrolled who require more disciplinary attention than normal, every effort is made to mold that student into good functioning behavior so that removal from the school hopefully never has to be considered. I rest well knowing my kids are properly educated and safe. The combined middle school is a product of low enrollement in those grades because of their previous K-8 status. Now as K-12, I believe there will be growth and expansion of extracurricular programs.
The academic program far exceeds the public schools in the area...I cannot believe this statement! TCA cannot even come close in comparison to the Eastampton Public school. TCA teachers are more concerned with writing demerits for a child going to a locker than say their reading comprehension. Parents new to the area...save your money for your child's college tuition and send them to Eastampton. Instead of having your child in a combined classroom with say 7th and 8th graders they will be with children their own age and learning a grade appropriate curriculum!
My son attended Mrs. Marrero's Pre K Class, she is a wonderful caring teacher.
In the 8 years I have been involved at TCA, I have been impressed with the godly love shown to my children. The staff goes beyond the call to show Jesus to the children. The academic program far exceeds the public schools in the area with our kindergarteners reading fluently by the end of the year. They are striving to increase the specials available to the children and have just added computer labs and an art and science annex. Your child will leave this school well able to handle the academic expectations of whatever school they attend.
