My son is here for more than 2 and half years and goes full day from 8:30AM to 6:00PM. I don't have experience with other schools in US to do a real comparison. However here are few things that makes me comfortable with this school:
1. He is safe and in caring hands - There are always lots of teachers and assistants to take care nicely.
2. Its a quality time he spends there - The whole day is spent in learning something - Active lessons, passive learning through activities, discipline, breadth of subjects covered etc. etc.
3. He loves going to school - We eagerly waits for the school day during holidays and also does not like if I go to pick him early some days.
4. Effective activities - For example there are activities for strengthening fingers which indirectly help in writing. His handwriting is really good. But I don't think he got it by practicing actual writing.
There are few things which I am not sure how effective they are, like the Montessori method itself, reading group, phonics etc. I do see good progress in him on these. But considering the fact that he is also naturally growing, I am not sure whether it is less/more/normal when compared to other schools.
AMS has been great for our daughter especially with Ms. Dworak and her loving staff for last 2 years - pre K and K. My daughter really blossomed into a very confident and well-rounded child. Her social skills have shaped up really well and more importantly always uses her please and thank yous where appropriate. We are very happy to see her development as a kindergartner at AMS, where they have given her the opportunity to learn and do more based on her skill level. She loves helping out the younger kids like the way she was helped when she was younger and that has built her self image up tremendously. I would absolutely recommend AMS to all.
I will be done with Apple this year being a parent of kinder I wrote what my experience told me.
The school was actually good and great in little past years but this time not exactly satisfied as when my elder one did the kinder.
There was a charm which Apple carries...somewhere it went down.
My experience was OK but when we talk to the parents who finished their kids kinder last year were so upset saying it was their bad experience.
Hopefully these reviews will help in improving their quality of time.
Previously Teachers used to work much with kids but now parents have to work much more than teachers.
they are getting more interested in posting the tags I feel.
there is one teacher who never carries a smile in the entire campus.
The Management is always there to understand and it is trying to help out.
Hopefully they will be able to reach.
My daughter has been going to Apple Montessori I Woodbridge avenue for almost 8 months now. They have a lot going on in the school that keeps the kids busy all day. A lot of stress is given to discipline. They also have music classes every week with a music teacher coming in specially for this. Plus there is art enrichment and character development program. My daughter seems to enjoy going there. What I appreciate most is how understanding and patient the teachers have been with my very strong willed child. With their help she will hopefully learn to respect others without loosing her own well developed sense of self. This definitely is one of the better schools in the area.
My child has been attending AMS-Woodbridge Ave. location in Edison since he was 3. AMS is simply the best! We toured every pre-k in the Edison/Metuchen area and not one school measured up to the quality of care and education offered at AMS. My child loves going to school and loves his teachers! He will be attending Kindergarten at AMS next year. There was no question about staying at AMS for another year!
As a parent, I adore the teachers at AMS!. My elder kid attends Ms. Warner's class and my little one attends Ms. Deskins class. The care and dedication that all the teachers in each class show on my kids helps ( and will help) a lot with their educational and social development.
