We enrolled our son here after being frustrated with his progress in a public school. Within two weeks he was reading and is now doing math. He wants to go to school everyday, where at his prior school he wanted to stay home everyday. They make learning fun for the student and make all feel like a family.
I have two sons attending tihs school and at 5 years old they were both at a second grade level in reading and mathematics. One is now 14 and the other is almost 6. The school's teaching philosophy is rooted in ensuring that the children understand 100% of what is being taught. I am unware of any program that does this and, having been exposed to this type of instruction, I am quite frankly petrified of having to place them in another program to complete high school. The teachers work with the children at their own pace and are committed to the progress of each and every child.
My three children have attended Ability School since the beginning of their education. One is now 11, one is 8 and the other is 4. The school provides a self paced learning environment that is focused on a balance of theory and application and a 100% understanding of what is studied. Basically, the school teaches a student how to learn for life! The reading program is intense, to say the least, and all of my children have excelled in this environment. I am happy to say that they are getting a strong foundation for their future education and that I wouldn't consider any other program at this point for my children. -JS
This school bases their instruction on Applied Scholastic's Study Tech. and shares as its source the creator of Scientology. They even use the same invented terminology and vocabulary. I don't think I want my kids in a school linked to them. Also, after reviewing results of the ASAP program used in a public school, I didn't see where additional tutoring of the students wouldn't have had the same effect as the ASAP program, which showed marginal improvements in the students. Individual attention and tutoring sessions always produce minor improvements in students willing to learn.
i am an 8th grader at the ability school. I have been going there since I was 4 years old. The Abilty school offers a quality education that will help your child in anything he or she would ever want to learn. Every day is great, I do not remember a day where I actually disliked school. They have an individualized program where students can learn at their own pace. To prove just how good this school is, I will list some of my high school acceptances, Bergen Cahtolic HS Paramus Catholic HS St Peter's Prep Xavier HS NYC La Salle Academy NYC Chaminade HS and I am waiting the response from Bergen County Academies, who i recently had an interview with
I moved my daughter from Hackensack Day Care to the Ability school when she turned 3. In one year she was not only reading but doing simple math. The school is amazing and their teaching methods are top notch... Their only draw back is they do not advertise and rely on word of mouth to spread the good news... They have the best test scores in the county... The small class size allowed my daughter to soar
Both my boys have attended Ability School since Pre School and are working at least 18 mos above grade level in both Math and Reading. The individual program for each students allows them to succeed and be challenged as needed, move ahead if they are able and or get additional help if needed in a specific area. And They Love coming to School each and every day.
In just one year my daughter became an amazingly fast reader and her enthusiams for learning escalated.
