This school needs to merge with a bigger district. If you are lucky enough to get one of the small classes it is like a private school, if your child is in a big class you are out of luck. They have little in extra activities, no sports to speak of and because the town does not generate enough in school tax revenue the school depends on lots of State Aide. Long time residents will argue but if your looking to move here for the school don't bother.

I am extremely pleased with the education my daughter has received thus far, with the four years she's completed within the Farmingdale Elementary School System. She is enthused with her reading, math, spelling, health, social studies, science, and foreign language assignments. She has acquired a geniune love for learning of all subjects, and I am grateful. I feel I owe this all to the dedicated and committed individuals who are part of the Farmingdale Elementary School Staff. I have not met one staff person there, yet, who is not totally committed to providing what they feel is best for children. And I feel that should be commended. The parents of the students enrolled there are also equally to be congratulated for the support and assistance they offer to their children on a daily basis. Farmingdale parents are obviously very involved in the school.Staff & parents should continue to work together, cooperatively, to do what is best for the children.

It is a shame how the teachers are treated at this school. All of the teachers are wonderful people that love there jobs and are very dedicated in to teaching farmingdle's children. This school is losing three wonderful teachers and it is a real shame.

As a former student of Farmingdale School, I believe that my needs were not provided for. When I went to high school, I found that I was behind my peers academically even though I had been an honor roll student at Farmingdale. I was also behind as far as athletics is concerned because Farmingdale offers no competive sports. I am happy to have gone on to bigger and better things.

My son was lucky to have Farmingdale elementary as a starter school, the children are taught respect for others, and are challenged academically every day, he was in Mrs. Brandls Kindergarden class and by the end of the year most of the class was reading and doing first grade math.

I moved to Farmingdale because of the school. I interviewed the principal and took a tour of various classrooms. I was well recieved and even though my friends thought I was crazy the staff at the school were helpful and nice. Buying a house is a huge investment but my children's education is a bigger one and I 'm glad I chose Farmingdale.

This is a unique, cozy learning environment for children. Those who are 'average' do very well here, and those with learning cahllenges are quickly placed in resource programs to assist in their learning process. The child who is considered 'gifted' may not receive adequate attention in this environment. The only solution we have received as parents is more work for the child, not necessarily an implemented program to provide more challenges.
