I am a 2008 FTHS graduate and a senior at a 4 year college (studying teacher education). I chose to become a teacher because of the amazing experiences I had at FTHS and the teachers that helped me to succeed. During my 4 years at FTHS I did not involve myself in extra-curriculars but I do not feel that that choice hampered myself because upon being accepted to every school I applied for, and choosing one that best suited myself, I found that I had the tools to then become involved as well as the tools I needed to succeed in a college environment. I had applied myself academically during HS which allowed me to enjoy my college experience even more. Overall, I had a wonderful 4 years at FTHS and would love to go back and teach there. Of course, due to my college's requirements and dual-degree teaching program, it may be a while before I can do that!
Excellent school. Caring, dedicated involved, teachers. Advanced programs. Part of the Freehold regional learning centers with a learning center on animal and plant sciences. A lot of extra help/tutoring for students both by teachers before, during and after school as well as independent student programs. Good use of technology wrt to keep parents up to date on what's going on in the district, with grades and sports. Late bus services for kids who are involved in extra-curricular activities.
This high school is the best in the state of NJ. As a senior of the class of 2011, I have to say my education experience here completely blows away my middle school experience which was terrible, and didn't learn much. The teachers here are so nice and become close with a lot of them. They will always help you regardless of the question you may have. The administration here is second to none. The academic standards are very challenging and have to work hard to get those A's. I have learned more here about life then all of the years I've been in school. Everyday is something new, fun and interesting and you always walk away learning something. This is probably the safest school I've been in. This probably all in all is the best school ever. You will not have to regret sending your child here as your child will be PLENTY BUSY with all the rigorous academic work your child will have. This school has clearly prepared me for the rigors of college next year. Thanks FTHS!
Being a 2004 Township graduate and 15 yr resident of Freehold Twp. I know the area just as well as I know myself. This is by far amongst the top high schools in the county. Its most recent renovation was complete in the Fall of 2002 and the school is highly advanced and modern. Teachers/Administration are excellent and I still keep in touch with some. Aside from being slightly overcrowded, Freehold Township High School is a wonderful place to be for four years.
Freehold Township High School offers enormous opportunities and success to its students. Unfortunately the student popuplation is growing and growing which takes away from the learning experience of the student. The teachers, guidance counselors are overwhelmed by the student population. Try making an appointment with your guidance counselor and maybe in three days to a week you get lucky to see him or her. Massive congestion during class passing, sort of like rush hour traffice on Route 9.
The Freehold Regional High School District is one of the best in the state, and Freehold Township High School, subjectively speaking, offers the best education, most positive atmosphere, and most engaging teachers. As a student graduating from the International Studies Learning Center, I can say that the program needs work (due more to new NJ state regulations forcing a rewrite of the curriculum), and I would suggest looking at other programs (unless it's really your thing). Other than that, the school offers a very solid education, and I am truly proud to be an FTHS alum.
After reading the 'reccomendation' [sic] by one of your former students, and being amused by the other grammatical errors, one gets the impression that students at the township don't get much in the way of Language Arts instruction, and certainly don't know how to spell.
I'm a realtor and I recently graduated from FTHS (02') I feel that this school was an excellent expereince. The extra cirricular activities, and fabulous music department made this school a great memory for my four years here. I also met many teachers, and students which molded me, and guided me to be the person that I am. I'm now a very successful realtor and am licensed in both NY & NJ and am making six figures. This school helped make me the person I am. the school is getting a little over crowded, but the teachers are superb and work well with the students. They are more than giving of support. the school is highly modern, and I can't state enough how great the extra cirricular activities are. I reccomend Freehold to many of my clients, all of which have been very satisfied with the schools including FTHS!
FTHS is a beautiful, modern, and updated high school with excellent teachers. If you're moving to Freehold, make sure you are in the Freehold Township HS sending area because you do not want to send your children to Freehold Borough High School. The only problem FTHS has is that it is overcrowded but it is much better than the Boro HS.
Learning Center program (international studies) needs a revamp in curriculum! School also seems too big for the personalized attention required at this age- guidance dept. needs more counselors!
