I used to be a student here a few years ago, and I've got to say that this was the worst school I've been to. Not only were the uniforms and the ID cards annoying, but a lot of the teachers were lazy (not all but a lot) and nobody was in the mood to learn. After a year I left the school and moved, but even in my new high school, I found myself too lazy to do much work because I was so used to basically doing nothing in GHS. The only thing I truly missed were some of the friends I made there and the sports. To improve the quality of this school, we need more diligent teachers that are willing to toughen up their curriculum to get the students ready for college (if they are going) and disciplinary action.

The uniforms killed it for me. I'm a senior this year, and can't wait to get out and go to college so I can have some self-expression in my wardrobe. Sure we have to wear uniforms to WORK, but school is different. High School is the last place we get to be kids, and they took that away from us. Thanks GHS. Only thing's I'm going to miss are some sports teams, and few teachers.

I have 1 in the H.S. and 1 in the M.S. The teachers really seem to care and try their best. My family has lived in Garfield for 18 yrs. More parents need to take responsibility and get involved.

GHS used to be a top school. I myself have lived here my entire life and graduated from GHS quite a few years ago. I now have 2 children in the Garfield School System. Since the city has gone downhill quite a bit in the past 7 years since an Abbott District was named, the students have changed and the life long residents are yearning to get out. This has taken its toll on the schools. The staff of the high school is excellent, however the students that are 'taking up space' and and not helping themselves is making everyone look bad.

I've lived in Garfield all my life, this is my home; it's all I've ever known. The school's here are not that bad, I go to the Garfield High School and aside from the students who choose to come and not learn, well that's their problem. I myself am not a big fan of going to school in general, but its part of life. The teachers do try their best and the school itself isnt horrible, its just those few troublemakers make the school look bad, if they were to be removed I'm sure people's opinions would change.

I disagree with the last review that was made. The reason why these schools aren't too well is because of the fact, you have these hoodlums and etc that just take up space in the classrooms. If you got rid of the kids that didn't do anything in school but cause trouble for the other children that are trying to learn, then maybe you would have a different opinion. Garfield High School has an excellent staff at this school. Some go the extra mile to help these children the best they can to understand, as well as they can become a friend to them. If they have trouble with others, just need to talk to someone or by just having a question, the teachers are always there for moral support. So just think about if ones that don't exert in school weren't there and how much better the school would be.

I'm looking to move to a better town with a better school district. I'm embarrassed that my children have to go to these schools.
