We have seen many administrative changes. The principal at the time of our arrival was Mrs. Hartmann. She did not desire parents to be an integral part of the learning environment. We tried several times to contact her with our concerns but she was never available/interested. After Mrs. Hartmann came Mr. Festante, who was a nightmare. He was all talk and would YES everyone but show no follow through. I would have lengthily conversations with him and find out that he did not follow-up on ANYTHING! He would put down his teaching staff. Finally we got Mr. Purnell. He encouraged parent involvement and embraced change. He supported his teachers, but LOVED kids and the community. We have seen tremendous growth and a raise in test scores. Although I may disagree with some of his decisions, I know that he made all of his decisions with the kids at heart. Thanks Mr.Purnell!

Our children currently attend GMMS and we have been quite pleased with the school. The school is under the new direction of a visionary leader (Mr. Purnell). He has completely transformed the school climate, embracing community members and all stakeholders. His leadership stems beyond the confines of the regular principal. He is visible at children's after school events and is a fixture in our community. Additionally, we have been pleased with the GMMS teaching staff. The staff has provided challenging curricula and equip our children with the necessary tools to succeed. Thank you GMMS!
